But the Miss Universe Australia winner, 28, hasn't always felt comfortable with revealing her sexuality to the world.
Speaking to Who Magazine on Thursday, Maria recalled a heart-stopping incident where a friend stumbled upon her online dating profile, which specified that she was open to dating both men and women.

Maria hadn't yet found the courage to come out about her sexuality, and was terrified that her secret would be exposed.
'I have dating apps and when I set my preferences to be both male and female, I got a message from a friend saying, 'Someone just sent me a screenshot from your account and we think there is someone out there pretending to be you and catfishing people',' she recalled.
'Then I freaked out and changed it back to just being to men,' she confessed.
