The Masked Singer 2022: Tennis legend Pat Cash is unveiled as Bagpipes

Pat Cash was unveiled as Bagpipes on The Masked Singer's love special on Saturday.

The tennis legend, 56, became the fourth celebrity to be revealed after Heather Small was unveiled as Chandelier, Snow Leopard was unmasked as Gloria Hunniford and Will Young turned out to be Lionfish in last week's episode.

Pat lost out in the sing-off against Poodle where he attempted to earn the judge's favour by belting out his version of I Only Want To Be With You by Dusty Springfield.

Meanwhile, Poodle tried to win them over by singing Clean Bandit's track Symphony.

Speaking after being unmasked, Pat apologised to Scots for his Scottish accent he'd put on during the show and explained he had 'Scottish blood'.

He also stated that after having previously been in a rock band, he 'liked the idea' of focussing on himself, but admitted that performing on The Masked Singer was just as 'nerve-wracking' as taking part in the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

On why he wanted to take part, the Australian former tennis player said in an interview:'I’ve always been a frustrated rock star and fancied doing the Masked Singer from the first day I saw it.

'I just thought it would be so much fun to rock out, although I prefer to hide behind a guitar instead of a sweaty mask. It was a great experience overall.

'As luck would have it, my schedule cleared. I’m a big believer in letting your higher power take over and I suppose it meant I was able to take part in the show.'

Pat was a successful tennis player and won the men's singles championship at Wimbledon in 1987.

There, he famously climbed through the stands to greet his loved ones, a tradition that has since been followed by subsequent winners of the tournament.

Traffic Cone, Panda and Rockhopper meanwhile sailed through to the next round after earning the most votes from the audience.

After the audience vote, the characters revealed to be going through to the next week were Traffic Cone, Panda and Rockhopper, leaving Poodle and Bagpipes to face the sing-off.

Saturday's Love special featured showstopping performances from Traffic Cone, Panda, Rockhopper, Poodle and Bagpipes.

The group kicked off the show with a performance of Backstreet Boys' classic hit I Want It That Way, before Poodle then took to the stage to sing What's New Pussycat? by Tom Jones.

Up next was Rockhopper, who wowed the judges with their performance of Amy Winehouse's Love Is A Losing Game.

Bagpipes meanwhile rocked the stage with an energetic performance of Wheatus track Teenage Dirtbag.

Traffic Cone then brought the emotion to the stage with a heartwarming rendition of When She Loved Me Sarah McLachlan.

While finishing things off was Panda, who turned up the heat by belting out Donna Summer's disco hit Hot Stuff.
