Eighties punk star Hazel O'Connor was rushed to hospital last week with bleeding on the brain, her family have announced.

The Coventry songstress, 66, who starred in and wrote the soundtrack for cult film Breaking Glass, was discovered at her home in south-west France on January 9 - following a 'serious medical event.'

Hazel was then admitted to hospital and placed in an induced coma for 24 hours after the brain bleed was diagnosed - with her brother Neil saying the situation was 'touch and go.'

He added in a Facebook message that since then, Hazel has shown a lot of progress and is 'responding to stimuli and to treatment', but her recovery will 'take a while.'

He wrote: 'She was taken to her local hospital where it was determined that she'd had a bleeding on the brain and that she should be transferred to a major hospital where her condition could more effectively monitored.
