Dame Judi Dench was left visibly bemused during a live television appearance when asked if she would replace Jodie Whittaker on Doctor Who.
The celebrated actress, 87, was quizzed about taking on the role of the Time Lord while appearing on Wednesday's episode of The One Show to promote her new Oscar-tipped movie Belfast.
The unexpected question came from a viewer who had tweeted the show, asking Dame Judi if she would take on the titular role in the sci-fi series when Jodie departs.

The actress appeared baffled by the question as she turned to Belfast co-star Ciarán Hinds, and said: 'Well - how am I going to be able to get that?'
The One Show host Alex Jones insisted: 'You would have a Tardis, so you'd be fine!' as Dame Judi and her co-star shared a giggle.
She responded: 'I think I might have to pass on that one. I'd have to get someone to do the stunts for me, that wouldn't be any good, would it? I'm not up to that, I'm afraid.'
While Dame Judi may not be up for the role, rumours are circulating on who is set to be the next doctor, with Jodie leaving this year.

It's A Sin's Lydia West, Olly Alexander and Omari Douglas are all rumoured to be in the running, with some fans even suggesting it could be Danny Dyer, as he gears up to leave EastEnders.
Line of Duty's Vicky McClure was among fan speculation, before shutting down rumours that she could be the next Time Lord.
With Jodie making history as the first female doctor, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies told Metro that a decision hasn't been made yet.
He said: 'We have genuinely not cast anyone yet. We're just starting auditions.'
Doctor Who producers have hinted the next Time Lord will be another woman, with production notes for the next series of the BBC's sci-fi show suggest a female will be starring yet again.
