Michelle Heaton has thanked fans for noticing her misshapen breasts which led to her discovery her implants had ruptured.

The Liberty X star, 42, sought medical advice last month after magazine readers noticed a difference in her appearance, prompting them to message her online.

And the singer, who had a double mastectomy and reconstruction 10 years ago due an 85 per cent risk of getting breast cancer in her 30s due to the BRCA gene, admitted on Monday she'd experienced a 'rollercoaster of emotions' over the last week as she began the process of getting her implants removed.

She wrote on Instagram: 'I am excited to be sharing a positive update on my reconstruction. As some know. It’s coming up 10 years since I had a double mastectomy and reconstruction which I had as there was an 85% of getting breast cancer in my 30s due to the BRCA2 gene I carry.

'Last year eagle-eyed readers noticed my breasts appeared misshapen in a video that appeared on Instagram for a magazine shoot I appeared in, which prompted me to visit my GP.

'They confirmed there was a serious risk my breast implants had ruptured.

'Whilst waiting, I started to do my own research on private specialists. A close friend of mine recommended @sculpt_mybody who I contacted just for my own peace of mind...

'Within a matter of days, they had me come in for a private ultrasound in Harley Street which confirmed my worst fears, implant rupture and therefore another operation.

'The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions. But, my anxiety and fears have been lifted by the support of the girls from @sculpt_mybody.

'I'll now be seeing one of Sculpt My Body's specialists for consultation in Harley Street to discuss having the implants removed so can finally start looking forward to the future.

'I cannot thank every single one of those comments enough, for drawing my attention to get this sorted.

'Although I had suspected something, as I’ve not got any feeling in that area, I wasn’t as alarmed as I should have been.
