Katie Price admits Mucky Mansion gave her 'anxiety' as doc airs after arrest

Katie Price's controversial Mucky Mansion documentary finally reached screens on Wednesday, documenting the star's attempts to transform her £2 million West Sussex home.

The reality star, 43, took centre stage in the three-part series broadcast just five days after she was arrested on suspicion of breaching her restraining order, after she allegedly branded her ex-husband Kieran Hayler's fiancée Michelle Penticost a 'gutter sl*g' in 'abusive messages'.

In the documentary, Katie, who hours earlier appeared at a press conference to launch her OnlyFans account, reflected on a string of woes that led to her stint in The Priory in 2019, admitting she was in 'such a bad place,' and 'couldn't even walk into the front door without getting anxiety.

In the documentary's opening scenes, Katie admitted she wanted to transform the property after a string of poor luck in her personal life, including a stint in The Priory in 2019, and a terrifying burglary, which saw thieves ransack the property.

She said: 'The house was broken into, I had friends betraying me, we've had two dogs that died here, a horse that died here, just a lot of horrible, horrible stuff here, I can't tell you how much I hated this house. My head was in such a bad place, I just could not live here. I could not even walk through my front door it would give me anxiety like you wouldn't believe, then the kids didn't want to be here.

'I've been in The Priory since, because things got that bad, I've learned to cope and deal with the past. The good news is I'm now running back, so my headspace is different now here, I'm actually happy now here, but things have to changed.

'Thankfully the good news is I have now, decided to do a complete makeover of the house, not just for my beenfit, for the children's benefit, and build a lovely family home.'

The star admitted she struggled to live in the property after it was ransacked by thieves, explaining she wants to change every inch of the property to make it her dream home.

She said: 'It's empty, cold, it just needs bringing back to life, everything dark you see, I hate it, and it does remind me of how I felt before, it is gonna take time. I'm going to sand this down, and all the stairs. Like these windows, the reason they're odd is because Harvey smashed them.'

Katie quickly got stuck into working on her vast 19-room property, explaining she wanted to transform her son Jett's bedroom into a Jurassic Park-themed jungle wonderland.

Heading down to the kitchen, she added: 'This poor kitchen, the hub of the house, someone left the tap on in the middle floor, it leaked everywhere and this whole ceiling collapsed, it just looked like it had been vandalised, I had to have it redone.

'No fridge, no freezer there's just no kitchen here, it felt like a squatters place. It looks sad, because I realise all the electrics the rats have been through it, it's a disaster.

'It's a solid built house, so I'm going to save it. Everywhere I look, I think something needs doing. I do have to change things. It's a realy good feeling in my head to know that I can go back to a place that I ever thought I could set foot in again.'

It soon becomes clear that Katie's dream transformation isn't going to be easy, with builder Steve discovering the house is rife with damp and black mould, likely from water leaking through the chimney.

He said: 'It is something up the top of the chimney - we will have to take this off and let it dry out. You can't leave any mould behind - that will all have to come off straight away. If you don't fix this, it'll come back and the paint will come off again. The water is coming through the chimney. This would have taken sometime to happen.'

Despite her incredulity at yet more work that needs to be done, Katie told Steve: 'That's another job that has to be done, we have to get into this house, the kids can't keep travelling now, they have to be here.'

Katie is determined to help Steve with work on the house, and even climbs aboard the cherry picker to help place a pot on the chimney to prevent further leaks, but it's not all smooth sailing, as one pot ends up crashing onto the roof, and destroying the pipe.

It was previously reported that Katie landed a £45,000 payday for the Channel 4 series, and avoided paying a penny for renovations to her 'Mucky Mansion.'

Despite the multiple renovations that were needed to her West Sussex mansion, Katie paid nothing towards the costs, while receiving a hefty fee for starring in the series.

A source told The Sun: 'Katie hit the jackpot with the show - she got a £45,000 fee and didn't have to put any of her own money into the project.

'The costs are being paid by the production company and she's landed a lot of freebies from companies who want the exposure of being on her show or her social media.'

A spokesperson for Channel 4 told MailOnline: 'Production did not pay for the costs of any renovations of the house.'

Katie Price's alleged payday was no doubt be a welcome boost to her financial woes, after her latest bankruptcy hearing was delayed until February 2022.

In November it was reported that her hearing had been rescheduled, giving her more time to pay back her debts to creditors, after failing to take out an individual voluntary arrangement to pay back £12,000 of her debts.

The documentary's release comes after a turbulent week for the star, which saw her arrest, before announcing just days later she'd be launching an OnlyFans account.

The glamour model has joined the racy photo-sharing site for £11 a month and was promoting her launch on Wednesday, as she insisted: 'It's my rules, my body, and I want to dictate how I show my body off.'

However just moments later when asked what sort of content she will be sharing, Katie: 'It's not all slutty, or whatever anyone wants to say it is. I think people have to be educated about what it's all about and it's not all that.'

'So if you want that type of thing don't subscribe to me because you won't be seeing any slutty stuff on there.'

Many sex workers earn a living by sharing explicit content on the platform as it provides a safe way of them making ends meet.

While the platform is predominantly used by sex workers - many of whom joined during the pandemic when in-person adult venues shut - a number of celebrities, musicians and comedians also use it for non-sexual content.

Katie, who rose to stardom as a glamour model, went on to discuss why she has decided to join OnlyFans six years after the site was launched.

Referring to glamour modelling, Katie said: 'It sort of went onto the social media platform, I wasn't used to doing all of that. You've got new girls doing all of that, bikini and underwear shots.

'I look at it and think - why would you want to just give that away? For me, I think my body is valuable and I own it. It's my rules, my body, and I want to dictate how I show my body off.

'I'm in my forties, there's so many young girls doing this and I know I'm just as good as them. I'm embracing myself, I'm a feminist - why not?
