Paramount Pictures took advantage of Super Bowl LVI to promote their highly-anticipated sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The studio unveiled a new TV spot during the big game, which features new footage of the title character voiced by Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik.
The TV spot also offered a new look at the title character's beloved ally Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and a new villain, Knuckles (Idris Elba).

The trailer begins with the lights of a football field being turned on, with a spoof of sorts of the football coin toss that kicks off each game.
'On game day, it all comes down to heads... or tails,' the narrator says, as the tails side of the coin is shown featuring the Tails character.
Tails then shows up with Sonic, who says, 'See what we did there?' as Knuckles shows up as well before the spot begins.

Tom (James Marsden) tells Sonic while out fishing, 'This is your time to be the big hero.'
