The Kardashians: Kourtney Kardashian consoles Penelope over engagement party ...

Kourtney Kardashian accepted Travis Barker's proposal on the fourth episode of The Kardashians, which she called a 'fairy tale,' even though it didn't quite sit well with her three children that she shares with Scott Disick.

Practically the entire Kardashian and Jenner family went to Santa Barbara, California, to surprise the 41-year-old Kourtney after the 46-year-old drummer proposed on the beach...  though it was matriarch Kris Jenner who decided not to include Kourtney's children Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7.

Shortly after the proposal, Kourtney FaceTimed with all of her kids, with Penelope taking it the hardest, crying on the phone before hanging up on her mother.

On the way to Santa Barbara, Kris rode with her boyfriend Corey Gamble and Kim, who asked if they ever 'figured out a way' to get Kourtney's kids without alerting Scott.

Kris shook her head, adding, 'There was just no way to get that whole thing dialed in, and at the last minute, Kourtney told Travis that Penelope wasn't feeling well.' 

The momager also confirmed that Travis' children - 18-year-old son Landon and 16-year-old daughter Alabama (who he shares with ex Shanna Moakler), and 23-year-old stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya would be there because 'they're older.'

Kris said that it is Kourtney's decision, 'to break it to her kids the way she wants,' before they all arrive in Santa Barbara.

Kris, Kim and Corey arrived at the Rosewood Miramar Hotel, joined by Simon Huck and his fiancé Phil Riportella, when Kim mentioned that Disick would, 'lose his f***ing mind' upon hearing about the proposal.

They were joined by Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson, who flew into town for the event, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, along with Landon, Alabama, Atiana and a family friend named Carl.

After the now-iconic proposal - in the middle of a heart-shaped arrangement of roses on the beach - the engaged couple came inside to find their family waiting.

The former Blink-182 drummer hopped on the phone to tell his father Randy that he popped the question to Kourtney, which lead to Kourtney adding that she should tell her kids now as well.

'How do I tell my kids? I feel like I need to tell them now, cause they will see it on the Internet,' Kourtney asked the group.

Corey Gamble said she should do it in private, as Khloe mentioned they are 'younger than Travis' kids,' as Kourtney checks her phone and finds missed calls from Penelope.

She goes into another room to call Penelope, asking her, 'How's my girl? Do you want to know what my surprise was?'

'What?' Penelope asked, as Kourt revealed, 'We got engaged,' as she shows the ring to Penelope on the video call.

'Look mom got a ring!' Kim exclaims, though Penelope is heard crying over the phone.

'Is that upsetting?' Kourtney asks, while Kim asks, 'P why are you sad, baby?' as Penelope only says, 'Hang up,' and disconnects the call.

'I feel bad for P,' Kourtney tells Kim, adding in confession, 'Penelope took it hard. I think it's a big change for her, and even though she loves Travis, I think she doesn't know what that means.'

'I think she just doesn't know what it means,' Kourtney adds in confession, before calling her youngest child, Reign.

'Reign, guess what? Mom and Travis got engaged,' Kourtney told Reign on the video call, who responded, 'What does that mean?'

'It means he proposed and gave me a ring,' as Reign answers, 'Not exciting!' which makes Kourtney laugh.

In confession Kourtney adds, 'I do wish that my kids were here. I think it would have made them feel more included in the decision, kinda, and part of the surprise.'

Khloe comes in the room, as Kourt tells her, 'Penelope didn't go so well. Reign was fine.'

'I know that my mom made that decision, and it probably wasn't her best,' Kourtney adds in confession.

Kim asks if she regrets not having the kids here or if she thinks that would have been hard, as Khloe adds, 'I think it would have been harder to have them here.'

Kourtney asks why and Khloe thinks they need to process it in their own way, as Kourtney tries to call her oldest, Mason, as Khloe adds, 'I know Scott knows.'

Kendall asks Khloe what Scott says, revealing he said, 'You guys are gonna kick me out now. I'm not involved in the family,' and he was asking, 'Why weren't my kids there?'

Khloe says she told him they thought the kids were too young, and Kim thinks it was the right decision not to have them there, which Khloe agrees with.

Kylie enters the room, saying, 'You're gonna have a sister meeting without me?' before they get her up to speed.

Kim said, 'Penelope was really crying' as Khloe added, 'Penelope is upset,' as Kylie adds she, 'heard it.'

Khloe speculated, 'I think they think they're losing their dad. I don't think they think they're losing their mom.'

'They think their dad is gone and you're replacing him. When you're a kid, you think you have to pick one, so P's reaction is understandably OK, but there's nothing wrong with Travis,' Khloe told the sisters.

Khloe added that Penelope's reaction was the same way that Kourtney felt about Bruce Jenner when he married their mother Kris.

'Once my dad was accepting of Bruce, it felt like you could take a deep breath and be friendly with Bruce and get along with Bruce,' Kourtney admitted.

Kourtney added in confession that she thinks it's, 'really important for Scott to like be accepting of our relationship so our kids can feel good.'

Kendall asks Kourtney if she has, 'any sympathy for Scott and the position he's in at all,' and Kourtney says yes, but Kendall adds, 'It doesn't feel like you do, just as an outsider.'

Kim adds that Scott has had, 'five or six years to get over this,' but Kendall adds, 'Of course but it's always going to sting.'

Kourtney adds in confession, 'You know, I'm sensitive to him and his feelings, and I communicate with him about the kids and I make sure that he's good... but beyond that, I just got engaged and I wanna like be happy and be in the moment and I just don't think this moment is about Scott.'

The sisters keep arguing about Scott when Kim suggests they talk about it tomorrow and, 'let them enjoy their night.'

The episode begins where last week's episode leaves off, with the family heading to Santa Barbara and freaking out about being so close to Kourtney and Travis on the highway.

Despite everyone in both cars saying, 'Oh s**t,' crisis was averted, as Kris and Corey suggest they get off the highway for 10 minutes.

Kris adds in confession, 'If this surprise gets ruined, I am gonna be so upset. Heads are gonna fly.'

Kendall tells them they're going to get off the highway, 'and go get some ice cream or something.

Kris calls family friend Simon Huck, who says he's 30 minutes away, as Kim asks him to, 'slow down a little bit because I think they're like 20 minutes away.'

Simon adds that Kourt and Travis are, 'so perfect for each other' and he has 'goosebumps' just thinking about their engagement.

He asks what Kourtney thinks they're doing in Santa Barbara, as Kris reveals, 'This is the anniversary of the first night they ever hooked up.'

Corey starts laughing and says they're,' celebrating sex,' as Simon says he will text them when he's close.

Kim reveals in confession that she is, 'so excited for Kourtney and Travis. It feels like she's waited a really long time for this happiness, and she deserves it.' 

Safely at the hotel, Kris tells Simon and Phil that Travis went to her late husband Robert Kardashian's grave to ask permission to marry Kourtney, and Kris gets choked up.

'There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Robert. And the fact that Travis has so much respect for Robert and Kourtney and all of us, is amazing,' Kris says in confession.

They also talk about how Scott would, 'lose his s**t' when he finds out, as Simon says that he has been at all of the family events when Kourtney didn't have a serious boyfriend, but now she'll have a husband and that will change things. 

Kris speculates that they 'won't wait too long to get married,' and they will 'fast-track' the wedding as Kim says Scott already knew they were trying for a baby.

'To me, a baby, you're stuck for life. Marriages come and go, no offense guys,' she says to the engaged Simon and Phil, who share a laugh.

'I believe in love, that's why hopefully there'll be just one more wedding for me. Fourth time's the charm,' Kim said with a laugh.

Khloe arrives at the hotel with Tristan, revealing he flew in for the proposal, adding, 'it was something he was not going to miss.'

A producer asks Khloe how her and Tristan are doing, as she answers, 'We're good. We're actually in a really good place. We just got back together. He's been going to therapy a lot. There's just been a lot of effort on his part.'

Tristan asks how SNL was in New York and Khloe says Kim, 'was so fantastic, but I didn't doubt that for a second.'

She adds in confession that it's 'so fun when Tristan is here,' adding that their daughter True has, 'routines and she loves having them with both of her parents.'

True starts eating Oreos as Tristan notices she only likes the frosting, not the cookies, joking, 'we should get her like a pint of frosting.'

'When we broke up, I learned how well him and I got along and what good friends we are and what good partners we are. I have a lot of hope and faith and optimism for our future together.'

Tristan and Khloe go out and meet everyone, with Tristan telling Simon that him flying out was a 'surprise,' adding he has, 'practice tomorrow.'

Simon asked if he has any more surprises, and he just said, 'Not yet,' which got a laugh from Kris. 

'You're next, Tristan. Figure it out. If we can just use the same hotel that would be great,' Kris jokes.

Kris tells the group that Travis will pop the question on the beach, as we see workers get the rose heart arrangement in place.

 

Travis' children arrive as Kim grills them about who their favorite new aunt is, as Khloe says in confession that she loves these families coming together.

'The Kardashian family and Barker family blending together is not anything weird or uncomfortable for us. We've been next door neighbors forever. We have barbecues together and it's just not weird for us to be integrated,' Khloe said in confession.

Khloe tells them that the, 'best thing' about Kris being their new grandmother is that she gives huge gifts, as Kris ponders getting a car for Landon, who just turned 18.

They all go inside as it gets closer to sundown, when Travis has planned on popping the question to Kourtney.

Kris asks Travis' kids if he's the type of guy who would, 'forget the ring, ' as Atiana said, 'We made sure he had it.'

Kim brings up the topic of Kourtney's kids again, thinking they are too young, as Kris adds more about why she decided not to include them.

'For us to have to lie to Scott and get them here under false pretenses would have been really hard for all of us,' Kris said.

Khloe says she doesn't know what to say to Scott because she knows he will call her and yell at her, 'but it's not our problem.'

Kris gets a text from the event planner Mindy, who says she will 'video if I can,' as Travis and Kourtney just left their room.

Footage from seemingly hidden cameras shows Travis and Kourtney walking into the large heart floral arrangement, as Travis reaches into his back pocket and gets on one knee.

While we can't hear what is said, Kourtney leans in and kisses him, before she opens up about the proposal in confession.

'I feel like I'm living in a fairy tale. I couldn't have dreamed of anything more perfect. I've never, in my whole life, dreamt of getting married until Travis, and until this relationship,' Kourtney says.

Back in the hotel, Kris gets photos from the proposal and a call from Mindy, confirming Kourtney said yes, as champagne is passed out.

They all get quiet as the newly-engaged couple enters before they all say 'Surprise' as hugs are exchanged all around.

Travis tells Kris that it was, 'so hard to talk' as Kourtney shows her sisters the engagement ring.

Kourtney says in confession that she's, 'kind of in shock' and it's 'one of the best moments of her life.'

Kim asks Kourtney if she was 'really surprised,' and Kourtney says she was, revealing what she thought they were going to do on the beach.

'Yes! I thought we were coming to the beach to watch True Romance... I thought he was gonna have like a screen and then I was like, what are all these flowers?' Kourtney said.

Travis tells everyone that he, 'had certain things I wanted to say,' as Kourtney adds, 'I don't think he was really saying them.'

'The way that Travis proposed, it does say a lot about who he is. He's super romantic. It's perfect because he did it,' she says.

Kris gives Kourtney a big hug and starts getting emotional, telling her, 'This makes my heart really full. And I just couldn't be any happier than I am right now.'

'The joy that it gave him to do this with you and how much he loves you, I will never get over how sweet he was and I just want you to know that I'm so happy for you,' Kris said.

She added that she knows how long Kourtney waited for this before telling Travis, 'what you did to make it happen, will
