Today host Karl Stefanovic has slammed the unedifying public spectacle that is Johnny Depp's defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Stefanovic, 47, said on Friday the matter should be heard behind closed doors like Australia's family court system.
Discussing the trial with entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, he said allegations made on the stand would be 'triggering' for people who have experienced domestic abuse.

'I think for a lot of people this is triggering,' Stefanovic said.
'This is so public. It's so awful. This is why stuff doesn't get televised from family courts here in Australia.
'There's awful detail, and for a lot of folks out there watching on, it would be really difficult viewing.'
