Katy Perry only had to look to Madonna of the 1990s for inspiration on what to wear for her Mother's Day promo push for American Idol.
The Firework star took to her Instagram page on Sunday and shared a series of four photos of herself decked out in a lavender corset mini dress, along with a clever play on words.
'Of CORSET you're watching #americanidol rn riiight?' she wrote in the caption, alongside photos of her striking poses in the sexy garment.

In one of the pictures, Katy (born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson), 37, can be seen from the waist up, starring off to her left.
The corset looks much like Madonna's style of yesteryear, with one exception. Back in the 90s the Material Girl typically liked her corsets with pointed cups, which isn't the case with Perry's.
For two of other three photos, Perry is standing forward looking straight into the camera with a seduction stare.

One style difference: The only glaring difference in style was the Material Girls penchant for pointed cups, which isn't the case with Perry's style choice
