Rochelle Humes has admitted that as a child, she felt 'embarrassed' of growing up in a mixed race family, but has learned to embrace it with age.
The 33-year-old grew up living with her mum, stepdad and their daughter Emily, 29, in East London, after her mum, Roz, and Jamaica-born dad split.
Describing that she felt 'brainwashed' at the time, Rochelle has explained that she felt she 'came with a disclaimer', due to her and sister Emily being different races.

Talking to The Sun, Rochelle detailed: 'My mum and dad split when I was less than one, and then she moved on and had my sister with another guy, who was lovely. But me and my sister looked completely different, she is white and I am half black.
'And we're all brainwashed to think things should look a certain way. I think that was a lot of what was wrong when I was young.'
The former member of The Saturdays then explained that she felt embarrassed when her stepdad would come to pick her up from school, as she felt as though she would have to explain that her and Emily are sisters but didn't look alike.
