Jimmy Barnes has had to pull out of a series of upcoming performances after testing positive for Covid.

The 66-year-old singer made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a photo of two positive rapid antigen tests.

It comes just days after Jimmy announced the death of his older sister, Linda, in what has been an undeniably difficult week for the rockstar.

Jimmy explained that while his Mackay show had been postponed, he'd had to cancel his headlining appearance at the Stranded In the Whitsundays concert on Daydream Island.

'Sorry to advise that I've returned two positive RATs for Covid-19. I'm not feeling too bad so far, but I need to isolate for seven days,' he began.

'This means we'll have to postpone this Saturday's show in Mackay. The new date will be August 27. So please hold onto your tickets and thanks to everyone concerned for making this change at very short notice.

'Unfortunately, this also means I can't travel to Daydream Island on Thursday. The Black Sorrows and Diesel are stepping in for me alongside Darryl Braithwaite and Richard Clapton, so the whole event will still go ahead in the beautiful Whitsundays this week.

He added: 'Believe me, if I wasn't contagious and could get out of bed, I'd be there singing to you.'

Jimmy also offered his 'sincere apologies to everyone who's been inconvenienced by this', acknowledging many fans would be disappointed by the cancellation.
