Selena Gomez was joined by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden as she visited the White House to open up about her mental health struggles  in order to destigmatize conversations about it.

The 29-year-old singer and actress participated in the Mental Health Youth Action Forum in Washington, DC to continue her mental health advocacy.

The panel brought together youth leaders who are working on creative ways to support mental health in the US.

Selena - who is the founder of charity Rare Impact Fund - was open about her struggles with anxiety and bipolar disorder as she said: 'The mentionable becomes manageable.

'Just to throw in a little bit of my journey, I felt like once I found out what was going on mentally... there was more freedom for me to be OK with what I had, because I was learning about it... It sets the example that it's a topic that can and should be discussed freely and without shame.'

The former Disney child star reportedly got treatment at a psychiatric facility after an emotional breakdown in November 2018.
