The limited series is based on a 2017 Hollywood Reporter story that claimed her true identity was Ronia Tamar Goldberg who was born in Poland in 1950 to Holocaust survivors. The actress reportedly went by Renee Goldberg when she was growing up in Los Angeles' San Fernando valley.
The celebrity denies that she is that person, adamantly asserting, 'I was born Angelyne.'
In the Peacock series, which began streaming Thursday, Emmy Rossum portrays the self-made celebrity, who rose to fame with a series of billboards released in 1984 featuring provocative poses.
