Pete Davidson has officially confirmed that he will be leaving Saturday Night Live after seven seasons on the sketch show.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared by the 28-year-old comedian's friend Dave Sirus on Saturday, Davidson stated that tonight's 47th season finale show will be his 'last one' as he thanked creator Lorne Michaels and the cast: 'I owe Lorne Michaels and everyone at SNL my life.'

The video shared alongside the caption featured Davidson hugging comedian Jerrod Carmichael, 35, after doing his 'very first update and sketch,' with Davidson adding, 'It's crazy to think that today I'll be doing my last one.'

News of Davidson's potential exit were reported by several outlets earlier in the weeks, along with the departures of his longtime co-stars Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant.

Davidson was a relative unknown when he joined the NBC comedy show's 40th season but has seen his profile rise thanks, in part, to his colorful dating life.

He has been notably absent from the award-winning comedy sketch showing his past season, having missed several episodes while he was filming a new horror flick.

He made headlines over the past year as he dined, vacationed and got cozy with Kardashian and was seemingly in a social media feud with her ex-husband, Kayne West.

Davidson joined SNL in 2014 as a featured player at the age of 20. While he hasn't confirmed what his plans are next, he has been focusing a lot of energy in the film and TV scene.

The funnyman is gearing up to release his comedy special on Netflix, where he is expected to divulge details of his relationship with Kardashian. The special is slated for release on June 13.

Davidson also revealed he is creating a TV show, Bupkis, which is supposed to tell a 'raw, unflinching, fictionalized' version of his real life.

SNL stars Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney are also expected to be leaving the series.

National Voter Registration Day posted on Twitter shortly after he confirmed his exit from SNL, alleging 'can't confirm' he was leaving the show to work with their organization. But, the post seems to be a joke.

Davidson became best known on the skit series playing the apathetic 'Chad' that first appeared in 2016 and has proven popular over the past five years.

Described as the 'stereotypical stoner bro,' Chad appeared in a skit with British superstar Adele when she hosted the show in 2020.

In 2020, Davidson released a movie based on his life, The King of Staten Island, cementing his status as a true breakout star, following in the footsteps of Kristen Wiig. The film marked his one of his first first leading roles at a major studio.

Since then, he has become seemingly committed to furthering his film and television career.

In March, Deadline revealed the SNL regular had missed some episodes of season 47 because he was filming The Home - a horror thriller in which he is the lead.

The film, directed by James DeMonaco, who also directed The Purge, tells the tale of Max, a troubled man who starts working at a retirement home. Davidson's character realizes the residents and staff were 'harboring sinister secrets' and launches an investigation, which unveils connections to his own past as a foster child.
