Kim Kardashian has paid tribute to boyfriend Pete Davidson's years on Saturday Night Live after he announced he was leaving the show.

Reality star Kim, 41, who is in Italy this weekend for her sister Kourtney's wedding to Travis Barker, took to her Instagram Stories to share a plethora of pictures of Pete on the US show after the announcement this week. 

Comedian Pete, 28, remained in New York as Kim jetted to Europe and performed a monologue as himself about his time on the show for the programme's Weekend Update.

Referring to co-stars Colin Jost and Michael Che, both 39, and Kim's ex Kanye West, 44, Pete jokingly opened with: 'Hello Colin and Che, and millions of people only watching to see if I bring up Kanye.'

While he didn't mention Kim in his speech, he did reference his ex Ariana Grande, 28, who he got engaged to after two weeks in 2018.

Elsewhere, he joked about his race, saying people were confused about his ethnicity when he first joined the show eight years ago.

He said: 'Now everyone knows I'm white because I became hugely successful while barely showing up for work.'

It comes after Pete officially confirmed he was leaving Saturday Night Live after seven seasons on the sketch show.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared by the funnyman's friend Dave Sirus on Saturday, Pete stated that the 47th season finale show that evening would be his 'last one' as he thanked creator Lorne Michaels and the cast: 'I owe Lorne Michaels and everyone at SNL my life.'

The video shared alongside the caption featured Pete hugging comedian Jerrod Carmichael, 35, after doing his 'very first update and sketch,' with Pete adding, 'It's crazy to think that today I'll be doing my last one.'

Pete's post was shared from his pal's account after the comedian deleted his own Instagram following online harassment from girlfriend Kim's ex-husband Kanye.

Davidson started out the emotional message writing: 'This video was taken 8 years ago. Jerrod sent it to me last night and it made me super emotional in the best way.' 

He then admitted that when he first joined SNL at age 20, he 'had no idea' what he was doing because he 'wasn't really a sketch performer'.

Pete went on to praise his co-stars, noting: 'I knew I could never keep up or go toe to toe with a Kenan Thompson or a Kate McKinnon so I was super scared at figuring out what I could possibly bring to or do for such a historic, respected show and platform.'

Pete continued to reminisce about his beginning on the show, writing, 'I figured since I’m a stand up I’ll just try my stand up and personal bits on Weekend Update as myself and I’m so glad I did. I got to share so much with this audience and literally grow up in front of your eyes.' 

'We were together through the good and the bad, the happiest and the darkest of times,' he added.

The comedian then thanked the SNL crew for always standing by him: 'Im so grateful and I wouldn’t be here without them. I appreciate you guys always having my back and sticking up for me even when that wasn’t the popular opinion.' 

Show his gratitude, he wrote: 'Thank you for always believing in me and sticking by my side even when it seemed comical. Thank you for teaching me life values, how to grow up and for giving me memories that will last a lifetime.' 

Towards the end of the post he expressed mixed emotions about his departure from the historical show.

'SNL is my home. I’m so happy and sad about tonight’s show. For so many reasons I can’t explain,' he said.

However he ended the post on a positive note, joking: 'Can’t wait to be back next year in a Mulaney musical number' before signing off as 'Resident young person Pete Davidson.'

News of Davidson's potential exit were reported by several outlets earlier in the week, along with the departures of his longtime co-stars Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant.

Davidson was a relative unknown when he joined the NBC comedy show's 40th season but has seen his profile rise thanks, in part, to his colourful dating life. 

He has been notably absent from the award-winning comedy sketch showing his past season, having missed several episodes while he was filming a new horror flick.

He made headlines over the past year as he dined, vacationed and got cozy with Kardashian and was seemingly in a social media feud with her ex-husband, Kayne West.

It comes after Pete's girlfriend Kim jetted to Italy this week for her sister Kourtney's wedding to Travis Barker.

They legally tied the knot at a Santa Barbara, California courthouse last Sunday, but are set to marry in a grand ceremony in the stunning fishing village of Portofino on the Italian Riviera coastline.  

According to TMZ, Kourtney and Travis have rented the historic house museum Castello Brown located on a hill above Portofino harbour for their nuptials. 

Her mother Kris Jenner, 66, recently revealed that she had been 'sworn to secrecy' about the upcoming nuptials, as she was seen out shopping in the harbour town earlier in the day. 

A source revealed to People: 'They had to legally get married first ahead of their big Italian wedding, which is happening very soon.  

'All the details are set, and the whole family, including all the kids, are very excited.'

With Kris telling the publication: 'I have been sworn to secrecy. If I say one thing about a wedding, I am going to be in so much trouble!'

The couple and their children are believed to have been in the area for the past few days.

Workers were seen toiling away in a bid to get everything ready for the nuptials, with a helicopter seen lowering down a large wooden structure.  

While another wooden structure was seen being delivered by a truck to the first level of the villa near the pool.

The couple seemingly intend to say their vows outdoors, with a paved area overlooking the sea seen being prepped by staff, with an array of plants, furniture and ornate structures seen scattered around the area.  

And the pair intend for their guests to be seated in style, as a truck load of ornate, colourfully patterned chairs were seen arriving. 

Elsewhere, rails of clothes were pictured being pushed along, amid the construction work taking place in and around the venue.

Highlighting the VIP nature of the wedding, a gold sign reading 'Riservati Evento' was seen hanging up, which means Reserved Event in English. 

Amid the hustle and bustle of preparations, Kourtney's children were seen excitedly watching by the sidelines.  

The lavish European wedding will be the third time the loved-up couple have tied the knot, following their unofficial nuptials after the Grammys in Las Vegas and their legal ceremony in Santa Barbra. 

Kourtney and Travis shared their first photos as newlyweds with their Instagram followers earlier this week.

Less than 24 hours after legally tying the knot in Santa Barbara, the reality star posted a slideshow of black and white photos from their big day. 

'Till death do us part,' the mother-of-three captioned the snaps, featuring her straddling her spouse on top of a black convertible with 'just married' on the bumper before getting into the car and sharing a passionate kiss. 

The Blink-182 drummer posted an identical caption and same images of their big day as they announced the news to their fans and loved ones.
