This Morning has been slammed by viewers as 'tone deaf' as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presented a segment from Buckingham Palace amid the cost of living crisis.

Tuesday's show saw Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, host live from Buckingham Palace for an hour to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

In the segment, they explored the Palace's lavish state rooms, gardens and kitchens and the pair also interviewed Eurovision's Sam Ryder in the Queen's London home.

But the ITV daytime chat show was criticised by viewers for being 'out of touch' for showing off the Royal residence amid a cost of living crisis across Britain.

In an introductory clip, the Queen's Guard played the This Morning theme tune on musical instruments before Holly and Phillip arrived at the Palace's grounds in a taxi.

As they drew up outside the Palace, Phillip said: 'Well we've made a lot of entrances in our time but this has got to be the most special.'

While Holly added: 'This is ridiculous, when you think of the people who have driven in vehicles up to this grand entrance.'

Holly said decades worth of Presidents and Prime Ministers had been in the same spot as they were, before Phillip joked that they probably hadn't arrived in a cab.

As Holly stepped out of the car, she lightheartedly said she felt like she should curtsy before the pair walked through the grand entrance of the Palace.

While they stood in a grand hallway, Holly explained what would happen during the segment, saying: 'We are going to be exploring the Palace's incredible state rooms, as well as the gardens and the kitchens.'

Phillip then asked the camera to pan around the room to show off the lavish fireplace and a 'beautiful' grand staircase, with Holly jokingly asking if that was where 'Cinderella's shoe fell down'.

During the show, the hosts interviewed Eurovision's Sam Ryder, and looked back on the Queen's 70-year reign with Gyles Brandreth while Gok Wan gave a tour of the Picture Gallery.

Horticultural expert David Domoney also explored the Queen's favourite corners of her garden, and chef Phil Vickery experienced the royal kitchens and revealed the origins of legendary Palace recipes.

But disgruntled viewers were quick to take to Twitter to criticise the ITV programme for being 'tone deaf' by filming in the Palace amid a cost of living crisis, while others joked it was a Royal reality TV show.

One enraged viewer said: 'This Morning from Buckingham Palace. We all really need to see the wealth of the royal family to feel better.'

Another penned: '#ThisMorning at Buckingham Palace is the definition of out of touch when there's people dying in poverty because of cost of living crisis.'

A third wrote: 'Did you see that ITV is filming their morning show from Buckingham Palace today. It's the royal family's own reality at home show!'
