Adele Roberts appeared in an 'inspirational' film for BBC Breakfast on Wednesday, showing her daily life after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The Radio 1 DJ, 43, was filmed at home with her partner Kate Holderness who helped the star changed her stoma bag - a candid moment that was praised by viewers.

Adele, who underwent colostomy surgery to remove a bowel tumor last year, was also seen visiting her nurse Elaine and proudly showing her her recent Women's Health Magazine cover, which features the star posing with her stoma bag on display.

The moving film was praised by viewers for showing the 'normality' of living with bowel cancer as Adele joked that because of her colostomy surgery 'I have not been to the toilet since October last year'.

Adele revealed in an October 2021 Instagram post that she was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer.

After Kate changed her stoma bag, Adele told her girlfriend 'I can't believe I've been to the toilet in front of you,' only for Kate to tell her 'I don't see it like that, explaining that she sees the stoma, which the couple have nicknamed 'Audrey,' as a 'separate entity.... it's like we're changing our baby.' 

The TV and radio star was also seen breaking down as she revealed her hope that at a scheduled scan in six weeks time she'll be told she's 'cancer free,' telling the camera through her tears that 'that will be the greatest day of my life.'

'I just want to hear those words, those words that you've not got cancer,' Adele told Kate, who was then seen getting emotional as she told her partner 'you've made it an absolute pleasure helping you through it.'

The end of the segment showed Adele thanking Kate for 'accepting my new body' from the very start of her cancer journey. 

After the emotional chat Adele joked that Kate was about to propose, only for her partner to quip 'getting down on one knee means something different now,' referring to how she helps Adele change her Ostomy pouch. 

Breakfast viewers tweeted their praise for the film, with one writing: '@AdeleRoberts changing her stoma on @BBCBreakfast this morning knowing how happy it would have made her.'

Adele revealed she's in love with her body 'more than ever' after posing for her Women's Health Magazine shoot. 

The DJ  underwent colostomy surgery to remove a bowel tumor last year and told her followers at the time that 'this little stoma bag helped save my life'. 

Former Big Brother housemate Adele, who has been open about her chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, told Women's Health: 'Being diagnosed with cancer has meant I’ve learned to appreciate my body; be grateful that it works; be grateful they found the tumour in time to remove it and be grateful [that modern medicine means I can] have a stoma. 

'I feel like I love my body more than ever.'

A colostomy diverts one end of the colon (part of the bowel) through an opening (stoma) in the tummy. A pouch is placed over the stoma to collect faeces.
