But it looks as though Ozark's star Julia Garner is the chosen the one to play Madonna. That is, if she accepts it - as the part is said to have now been offered to Garner, though it is not yet clear if she has said yes, Variety reports. The Inventing Anna star was first rumored to be in the running for the part all the way back in August 2020, when Madonna's manager Guy Oseary followed the actress on Instagram. Who's That Girl? Julia Garner has reportedly been offered Madonna role in biopic of the Material Girl The hotly-anticipated project has been in the works for a number of years now, and was hit with delays when Madonna, 63, parted ways with original screenwriter Diabo Cody. British actress Florence Pugh was another top contender for the lead role, and one industry insider even suggested Pugh's team announced her role in the Dune sequel in a bid to lock down her being cast as Madonna. In March this year, insiders revealed details about the 'grueling' audition process as the search for the actress playing the Queen Of Pop continued. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, sources revealed auditions can sometimes involve 11 hour choreography sessions with Madonna's choreographer, followed by a choreography session with the actual Material Girl singer. During callbacks, actresses do readings with Madonna and singing auditions with her. Is it her?
