The Logie Awards will celebrate its 62nd anniversary on the Gold Coast this Sunday.

And ahead of the ceremony, Daily Mail Australia looks back on some of the wildest moments in the awards show's history.

From David Koch accusing Martha Kalifatidis of elbowing him on the red carpet to Tracy Grimshaw's 'nudie run', there's a reason why the Logies is considered the loosest night in showbusiness.

Perhaps the Logies' most memorable controversy occurred when Karl Stefanovic hosted the Today show drunk the morning after 2009's ceremony.

Karl reported from Melbourne's Crown Casino looking visibly worse for wear, and even confessed on air that he hadn't had any sleep.

In a 2014 interview, the journalist admitted he was 'smashed' and that it would have gone unnoticed if it wasn't for the popularity of YouTube.

In 2011, Karl caused a stir yet again when he made a lewd comment about his then-wife Cassandra Thorburn (right) while accepting an award on stage

'This was the first Logies when stuff really started working on the Internet,' Karl said.

'I remember seeing it on Today Tonight and going, "Oh God". I really was drunk... or at least I certainly looked and sounded drunk.'

In 2010, Karl was banned from the bar and made to work as a red carpet correspondent to prevent a repeat performance.

A year later, in 2011, Karl caused a stir yet again when he made a lewd comment about his then-wife Cassandra Thorburn while accepting an award on stage.

He said: 'My beautiful wife Cass, who lets me go on these weird and wonderful excursions around the world... a great influence in my life. And she's also got the best a**e I've ever seen!'

And almost a decade later, the Channel Nine presenter, 47, confessed that 'it's been a long time between drinks' and that he won't be holding back if he wins the Gold Logie for the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality in 2022.

'I think everyone needs to see me the next day on The Today Show to see how I scrub up after I win. Actually, it will be the same if I don't!' he told TV Tonight.

Another memorable moment took place in 2019, when Sunrise host David Koch (left) accused MAFS bride Martha Kalifatidis (right) of 'elbowing' him in the ribs and leaving a 'bruise' while she supposedly barged across the red carpet

Another memorable moment took place in 2019, when Sunrise host David Koch accused MAFS bride Martha Kalifatidis of 'elbowing' him in the ribs and leaving a 'bruise' while she supposedly barged across the red carpet.

Kochie and his colleagues Sam Armytage, Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta mocked Martha, 34, saying the incident supposedly happened as she was trying to be photographed.

Martha hit back in a YouTube video later that day, denying the incident and calling the Sunrise team 'bullies'.

Elsewhere Jessika Power and Ines Basic made headlines when they gatecrashed the ceremony, sending tensions among the invited cast members skyrocketing and Nine's publicity department into a meltdown.
