Love Island fans were not impressed with Jacques O'Neill on Tuesday's show after he opted to wear a white vest and pants for a night in the Hideaway with Paige Thorne.

The rugby player, 23, and the paramedic, 24, were voted by their fellow islanders to enjoy a steamy night in the private room, with Paige then pulling out all the stops by slipping into sexy red negligee.

But Jacques didn't appear to make the same effort as he donned a simple vest teamed with a pair of 'tighty whities', causing viewers at home to slam his outfit choice - with some remarking he looked like a school kid who forgot their PE kit.' 

Despite earlier telling Paige to 'Go and get your best underwear on', Jacques appeared in his comfortable bed attire, as he later told Paige: 'You weren't expecting me to dress up, were you?'

To which Paige said: 'Yeah 100% we're meant to go matching!'

With Jacques then responding: 'You know me, just boxers and vest!'

And while the other islanders then cheered the couple into the Hideaway before they proceeded to get frisky with chocolate sauce and a whip, the same couldn't be said for fans as they shared their outrage as Jacque's bedwear. 

'Jacques took Paige to the hideaway in a vest and pants I'm dead' commented one viewer.  

While another fumed: 'nah if a boy walked out in pants and a vest, I’d refuse to go in the hideaway.'

A third person asked: 'Why is Jaques dressed like he forgot his PE kit in 1970?'

'Jacques dressed up as if his PE teacher told him to do pe in his pants because he forgot his kit' echoed a fourth.

'Paige looks so hot and then there’s Jacques in his tighty whities' observed a fifth watcher.

With another ranting: 'jacques going to the hideaway in a vest and tighty whities? i would never recover from that ick.'

Meanwhile, there was more during the latest episode as Amber Beckford and Ikenna Ekwonna were both brutally dumped - as new girl Antigoni Buxton gets set to enter the villa.

The public had been voting for their least favourite girl and boy which left Monday night's show on a nail-biting cliff hanger as the contestants gathered around the fire pit to learn their fate.

The boys with the fewest votes were Ikenna, Jay Younger and Andrew Le Page while the girls with the fewest votes were Tasha Ghouri, Amber and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

The girls were left devastated as Amber left, with Tasha saying she felt 'heartbroken' that she was dumped, while the boys lamented how the villa wouldn't be the same without Ikenna.
