Host Emma Barnett asked the musician what her son Albert McIntosh - known as Bertie - thinks of a new generation discovering her music.

She said: 'I think he thinks it's pretty cool.'

Asked if Bertie is a fan of the show, Kate answered: 'We all are! Our friends kept saying "have you seen Stranger Things?" when the first series came out so eventually we binge watched it and have been watching it ever since.'

She said: 'Technology is advancing at this incredible rate. It's hard to keep up with really.

'It was really great people respected that because we were working in what was quite a small theatre and I wanted there to be a strong connection between the audience and everyone on stage.

'Phones are very distracting. It's a bit different in an open air concert but we were trying to create an atmosphere with what we were doing.

'I have a really ancient phone. It's very ancient. I like that because I spend a lot of time on my laptop and when I go out during the day, it means I don't have to deal with emails and everyone knows that. I just get texts and calls on my phone and it means I have a bit of peace.'

Kate said of her new number one: 'It's just extraordinary. It's such a great series, I thought that the track would get some attention.

'But I just never imagined that it would be anything like this. It's so exciting, it's quite shocking really, isn't it? The whole world's gone mad!'

The songstress also admitted that she hadn't listened to her track in quite a while as she doesn't tend to replay her 'old stuff'.

She said: 'I never listen to my old stuff but when things like this come along, I'm normally involved in something like doing an edit or revisiting the track for some kind of other reason, I'm working.

'But I haven't heard it for a really long time'.
