Red Hot Chilli Peppers have been forced to cancel their show in Glasgow on Friday, due to an unspecified 'illness.' 

The band, that consists of Anthony Kiedis, Flea (born Michael Peter Balzary), Chad Smith and John Frusciante, were set to play at Bellahouston Park at part of their 38 date 2022 Global Stadium Tour. 

A statement on behalf of the band said: 'Due to illness RHCP will not be able to perform in Glasgow tonight July 1. We are working on ways to reschedule.'

They added: 'Pls hold onto your tickets & wait for an update soon. RHCP love Scotland & are deeply disappointed not to be able to perform the show. Thank you for your understanding.'

Red Hot Chilli Peppers have been promoting their 12th studio album, titled Unlimited Love, which was released on April 1. 

The 2022 Global Stadium Tour is the bands first in five years and welcomed the return of their guitarist John, who rejoined the band in 2019, following his 2009 departure.

It comes as Anthony Kiedis has gushed that his band are 'like his family' as the 40th anniversary of them forming approaches.
