Bachelor in Paradise star Matt Whyatt has revealed he's had a hair transplant, showing shocking before and after pictures of his procedure.

The reality TV star, 29, revealed he'd partnered with Hair Replacement Service Gro Clinics and had flown to Melbourne for the 10-hour operation.

He said he decided have the transplant after seeing a dramatic loss of hair in the last 12 months and deciding he 'didn't want to be bald at 35'.

Matt shared a before picture of him training for a boxing fight.

It showed his hair thinning at the top with his hairline noticeably proceeding.

The Pro BMX rider then filmed himself after the operation, with a bloodied line of red dots across the front of his forehead, where his hair will grow in.

'Some of you are probably a bit shocked and asking, why the hell is he doing that?,' he said in a video posted to his 87,000 followers.

'I'm turning 30 this year really started to notice the receding hairline go. It hasn't bothered me too much, but I'm also going a bit bald through the centre.

'I shaved my head short and in all the clips you can see it was receding a lot'.

The news comes as Matt announced he was set to become a dad, with his girlfriend - former Love Island Australia star - Kim Hartnett revealing she was expecting.

He went on to explain that he's always been a 'hat guy' but now feels like he has to 'wear it everyday'.  

Matt also said ' a lot of guys feel the same' as him.

'When I knocked my teeth out, I wasn't gonna walk around with no teeth,' he said 'I don't wanna be 35, 40 walking around with no hair'.

He also answered many questions on his Instagram story about the new look and the procedure.

While he didn't say if he'd had a discount for promoting the clinic, he said that it would cost between $15,000 and $20,000 for the work he had done, adding that the needs and price vary for every person.

He added there were plenty of payment options, and that he 'cut down on beer' and had one less weekend out a month to pay for it.
