The Love Island 2022 final is set to take place on Monday night at 9pm on ITV2 - and while it's been a ratings hit - with 5m viewers tuning in to the saucy show's opening episode, the series has been marred with controversy.

With thousands of Ofcom complaints registered about alleged 'bullying and misogyny' from the male Islanders towards the female cast, ITV boss Kevin Lygo has been forced to confirm the broadcaster will 'sit down and review' the show when the series ends.

It's not clear whether or not the UK's media regulator will investigate the complaints.

Viewers were stunned by Luca Bish, 24, and Dami Hope's treatment of Tasha Ghouri, 23, when they believed her to not be genuine, and at Luca for losing his temper at his partner Gemma Owen, 19, for supposedly flirting with Billy Brown, 23 while in Casa Amor.

Then Gemma gave him what for when he reacted badly to her licking 26-year-old Adam Collard's chest during a sexy challenge - with viewers calling out his behaviour.

However, it's fair to say there have been plenty of incredible moments in the villa, such as the the reunion of show favourites, Ekin-Su and Davide after a brief split, which saw her crawl on the terrace to kiss new bombshell Jay Younger, 28, with Davide finding out and calling her 'faker than a Louis Vuitton from China'.

Then there was the moment when Indiyah Polack, 23, kept mistakenly calling Dami by the name of love rival, Deji Adeniyi, 29 - her mother came on the show and DID THE SAME THING causing viewers to howl with laughter.

Monday night will see couples, Gemma and Luca, Ekin-Su and Davide, Tasha and Andrew and Dami and Indiyah all battling it out to be crowned your Love Island winners - so let's look at the series' most dramatic and controversial moments.

EKIN-WHO?

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, 27, really came into her own when bombshell Nathalia Campos, 23, brutally called the Turkish soap-star ‘Ekin-Who?' during a heated row.

Things got particularly tense one evening when Ekin-Su asked Nathalia - who had her eyes on Davide Saclimenti, also 27: ‘You alright? Have you got an issue with me? It feels like you’ve got an issue with me.’

While Nathalia insisted she didn’t, Ekin-Su said: ‘Do you know what I’ve learnt my love, the best way to end an argument is cooking. You can prove to me with your pancakes my love, to see how good you are.’

Ekin-Su sassily answered back: ‘I am Ekin-Su babe and there’s only one of me.‘

Nathalia responded: ‘Who is that to me? Who is that to me though, Ekin-who…?’

Deji later revealed what really happened next, which wasn't aired on the show - and that was that Ekin-Su replied: 'Ekin-your mum.'

He said it was his funniest moment of the series and was unable to stop laughing as he recalled the moment.

 'I LICKED A T*T... OR WHATEVER'

Love Island fans are saying this is the funniest moment in the show's history when Andrew Le Page, 26, had to admit to his original partner Tasha that he didn’t just kiss Coco Lodge, 27, in Casa Amor, like she thought was the case.

He started off by saying that he 'sucked her t*t, or whatever', before changing his story to ‘licked her t*t, or whatever’.

The sentence went viral, with images of cakes with the words: 'I licked a t*t' emblazoned on them which appeared on lots of viewers' Instagram Stories.

LIAM LEAVES THE VILLA FOR MENTAL HEALTH REASONS

The Welsh student, 23, quit the show after just six days in the villa at the start of the series, saying he underestimated how being filmed 24/7 would impact him mentally, knowing his every move was being watched and edited unfavourably.

Liam said: 'I thought I was going to have the summer that everyone dreams of but now I'm living with no regrets, I took a chance but I realised I can't live on TV.

'I was expected to do things for a TV show and I couldn't be myself. I didn't want to do it. It is a TV show and it is produced. It's not all natural.

'In my head I was not in the right position to take part in a TV show because that's what you're doing. You have to go on dates, do challenges, and you're not in control of any of it.

'On my dates they asked me to repeat things because it didn't quite come through.

'I had loads of meetings with the execs, the series editor, and professional physiologists but after a couple of days of feeling the way I did, I made the decision on my own behalf that it wasn't right for me to carry on.'

Liam was coupled up with Gemma courtesy of a viewer's vote but they were only together for a matter of days.

MEET THE PARENTS

While the Islanders broke down in tears when their family members arrived in the villa after eight weeks of not seeing them, there were some notable moments.

Who could forget the savagery of Paige's parents when her mother told her: 'I'm not buying it' when it comes to her romance with Adam, before her dad said: 'I haven't watched the show.'

Adam burst into tears upon seeing his parents and said he had genuine feelings for Paige after coming into the villa as a last minute bombshell in order to ruffle feathers.

Davide's mother was so emotional, she caused her son to break down in tears, telling her son that she could see he was in love with Ekin-Su.

Indiyah's mother gave Dami a good old talking to for his three-way kiss in Casa Amor and when he apologised, she said: 'What are you sorry for?' before accidentally calling him Deji.

Dami's family were unable to attend due to Covid but chatted to him and Indiyah over Zoom, asking him what on earth he was thinking by kissing other girls in Casa Amor while he was coupled up with Indiyah.

Luca's mother stole the show in a silver lamé dress and told Luca that he had overreacted in the show at times but would talk to him about it when he was out of the villa.

And Tasha's dad won hearts after telling his daughter how proud he is of her and that he supports her romance with Andrew. Tarek has become a bit of a social media sensation for all his loving tweets about his daughter.

JACQUES LEAVES VILLA AND CALLS SHOW 'WORST MISTAKE OF HIS LIFE'

The hunk, 23, sensationally quit the show a fortnight ago over fears he'd lose control but claims bosses tried to make him stay.

The reality personality decided to remove himself following the arrival of Adam Collard, 26, as he declared: 'Love Island was the worst decision of my life.'

Jacques was rattled by the arrival of former contestant Adam, who set his sights on the rugby player's partner Paige Thorne, 24, before telling his fellow Islanders that the sportsman was 'immature.'

Adam, who was known for his womanising ways, made a shock comeback to the ITV2 show after originally appearing in series four in 2018.

Gemma's ex, Jacques, said he'd reached breaking point after Adam's arrival, telling The Sun: 'I thought if I don't get myself out things could go horribly wrong and I could get physical.'

Jacques said he removed his microphone and walked out the front doors of the villa before producers intercepted, prompting him to demand to be left alone.

While viewers learned the television personality had left the villa on the Tuesday, he had in fact departed on the Sunday.

He claims he'd been gone a day before bosses coaxed him back when he had a 'welfare chat' about his situation.

Jacques insisted he 'couldn't deal with it' any longer and was in tears, saying he wanted to return to the UK.

He added: 'It broke me and I was already broken. I was crying my eyes out. I couldn't cope. I was literally feeling awful. It was the worst I'd ever felt in my life.'

Jacques' family revealed during his time in the villa that he had been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of nine and sometimes struggled to deal with emotional situations.

'YOU'RE A LIAR, AN ACTRESS, GO THE F**K OUT!'

They have become the 1/8 odds-on favourites to win Love Island - but Davide and Ekin-Su's journey to love hasn't been a smooth one.

Right at the start, Ekin-Su turned her back on the Italian Stallion and made a play for bombshell Jay Younger, crawling on the terrace to give him a secret kiss.

Davide found out and he and Ekin-Su had a fiery bust-up of words after he told her 'you're an actress, a liar, go the f**k out'.

They soon reunited but when she was captivated by Adam, he was a little rattled by his arrival and called her a 'player', then shouted across the villa that she's 'as fake as the Louis Vuitton from China'.

However, Ekin-Su has since won Davide's trust and the pair have said they are 'head over heels in love for one another', with Ekin-Su breaking down in tears at the thought of bringing their future children back to the villa to show them where their parents met and fell in love.

A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY

Indiyah Polack has more than once mixed-up her Love Island beau Dami Hope's name with bombshell Deji Adeniyi's.

And it would seem that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as her mother made the same error during Sunday night's Meet the Parents episode.

Fans were left in stitches when Indiyah's mum Dee made the slip-up as she grilled the 26-year-old Dublin native on his Casa Amor actions.

She began with 'Deji, so' before realising her mistake.

A howling Dami exclaimed 'Deji?!' as Indiyah's sister Shak scolded her mum.

'Why?!' Dami yelled as he laughed, later concluding 'my name's Dami though'.

An embarrassed Indiyah, 23, later told the Beach Hut: 'Like mother, like daughter...when she did that...I literally just wanted the floor to swallow me up.'

Earlier episodes saw the hotel waitress accidentally call her couple partner Dami by Deji's name on two separate occasions.

The first time it happened, as she walked in the kitchen to chat with Gemma Owen and Danica Taylor, the stunner approached Dami and called him by the wrong name.

Referencing new girl Nathalia Campos' quip at Dami's decision to recouple with Summer Botwe during Casa Amor, Indiyah whispered: 'She was like "oh poor Summer".

'If you felt that way with Summer, Deji - not Deji.'

'I'm actually irritated, this is getting a bit too much now,' the Dublin-native replied.

DAMI'S FUMING FACE WHEN INDIYAH CAME BACK FROM CASA AMOR

They might be in love with one another now but Dami and Indiyah were nearly no more after his feelings for her were seriously tested in Casa Amor.

His head was turned by Summer and Dami was the third boy to choose in the recoupling, with host Laura Whitmore questioning whether he'd like to 'stick or twist'.

And after getting to know new girl Summer Botwe during Casa Amor, Dami admitted he'd like to recouple, even making a pun as he said 'Summer isn't over yet'.

He told Laura: 'Me being true to myself and I feel this Love Island experience is about exploring connections... and Summer isn't over yet,' before announcing his decision to recouple.

Despite himself choosing a new girl, Dami couldn't hide his shock as Indiyah returned to the villa moments later with Deji Adeniyi on her arm.

'I did have a connection but I thought that I needed to follow my head and I'm glad that I did, everything happens for a reason you know, it is what it is' she said, while a visibly upset Dami cut in saying ''till it isn't'.

As Indiyah rolled her eyes at the comment, Laura questioned if Dami had anything to say to her, to which he replied that he is happy for her - but for himself too, while making a fed up facial expression.

Not buying the comments, Indiyah replied 'seems it', before saying she is 'absolutely' happy when questioned by him.

As the other islanders awkwardly shuffled in their chairs, Laura wasn't stopping there - asking Indiyah if she expected Dami to be sitting with someone else.

'Do you know what? Expect the unexpected, I see his true colours now, do you know what I mean?', said Indiyah.

While Dami chimed in saying 'We're heartbreakers so here we are', as Indiyah concluded the tense face off with: 'May the best heartbreaker win'.

THE TALENT SHOW

Indiyah Polack left her fellow islanders and the viewers in stitches with her talent show performance on Monday's episode of Love Island.

The hotel waitress, 23, set social media alight when she attempted to play the recorder for her talent - with hilarious results.

The beauty performed a rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star but ended up playing much of the track out of tune.

The other islanders quickly tried to muffle their laughter, with Tasha Ghouri even covering Andrew Le Page's mouth.

Indiyah herself started to crack up during the performance and quickly knelt down behind her notes so she couldn't see her fellow islanders' faces.

Viewers quickly took to Twitter to react to the hilarious moment, with one saying: 'Why is Indiyah playing the recorder so funny to me?'

Another said: 'Indiyah on the recorder had me rolling and it's the way Ekin-Su was being so serious telling Danica to stop laughing'.

Another viewer wrote: 'Indiyah babe, guys I've never laughed harder at an episode.'

Some fans likened Indiyah's performance to Millie Court's in the series seven talent show, where she struggled with her keyboard.

The official Love Island twitter account photoshopped Indiyah and Millie into the same snap and wrote: 'We know someone who could have helped Indiyah'.

CHALLENGE - SNOG, MARRY, PIE

Complaints: 1509 for misogyny and bullying

Islanders were tasked with selecting someone to snog and 'marry', by placing a ring on someone's finger and ditch, by throwing a custard pie in that person's face.

The challenge appears on the show each year and while it's meant to be playful in tone, Islanders have to give a reason as to why they select someone for each action.

It seems viewers were upset about how dancer and model Tasha was treated when she was pied three times - with some calling the boys' behaviour 'bullying'.

Tasha had three pies thrown in her face, by Davide , 26, microbiologist Dami and fishmonger Luca after they had accused her of not having good intentions towards Andrew - who she was coupled up with.

The general consensus was that Tasha did not like Andrew as much as he likes her and that she was stringing him along.

Tasha was the left in tears after the boys pushed the pies into her face during the supposedly light hearted game, with fellow Islanders later agreeing things went 'too far'.

Davide, who is coupled up with actress Ekin-Su had said his reasons for doing so was because she called him and his partner the fakest couple.

Dami, coupled up with Indiyah confessed he pied Tasha because she usually 'gets away with a lot of stuff' after openly criticising her in the villa.

And Luca, coupled up with Gemma told her: 'I could give you a list, [of reasons] but I'll let it go for today. It's just a game.'

On top of fans using the word 'bullying, Love Island alum Amber Gill wrote on social media: 'Gosh I hope Tasha is OK. These boys are basically bullying her at this point.'

Gemma's mother Louise Owen also criticised Luca and Dami's behaviour towards Tasha, saying it was 'close to bullying'.

Luca and Dami received harsh criticism from viewers for the way they have treated Tasha in recent days and Luca's family members have now said they have been left 'broken' over the awful comments they have received about him.

Louise commented on an Instagram clip of the moment Tasha asked Andrew to be her boyfriend and wrote: 'I hope Tasha is ok, I feel it's close to bullying now which is so sad to see'.

Later in the show, the two men apologised to Tasha with Brighton based fishmonger Luca admitting he was 'out of line'.

He said: 'I do actually genuinely feel bad right now for what I said and I'm sorry'. Luca said.

Echoing his words Dami agreed saying: 'I do support you and Andrew and obviously we have our opinions about everything that happened'.

He continued: 'I have said to you I thought you always get away with
