Television star Shelly Horton opened up on Wednesday about faking her happiness on-air while she battled depression and perimenopause.
The 48-year-old said she would 'drive home belittling' herself for her performance on TV after getting off work.
'[Perimenopause] affected me personally and my peri-induced depression and anxiety destroyed my work ethic,' she wrote on 9Honey's website.

She continued: 'I would come into Channel Nine and fake being happy on TV, but drive home belittling myself for sounding stupid and telling myself I should probably quit before I got fired.
'I had six months of that before I sought help. Once I got treatment, my world went back on its axis and I loved work again.'
Shelly said if she had menopause education she 'wouldn't have been
