Yellowjackets is set to return for a second season, though not as early as fans originally hoped.

The star-studded Showtime hit series - which follows a high school girl soccer team after they survive a plane crash deep in the Canadian wilderness - will most likely premiere in early 2023.

Showrunners and co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson told TheWrap that production will begin at the end of August, explaining: 'It’s a deeply serialized story, and we wanted to make sure we didn’t rush it, and that we got it right. And so this was the earliest we could accomplish that.'

'Nobody wanted to get back on the air quickly more than we did,' they added.

'We’re looking into the first quarter of 2023,' Lyle said of the expected air date for the show - which stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis among others - adding, 'We really rolled directly from finishing up Season 1 into Season 2.'

'I believe that we are going to finish shooting in about February and we’ll be airing sometime shortly after that.'
