Guy Sebastian has shared his excitement following the birth of his close mate Kyle Sandilands' baby boy Otto.

On Wednesday morning, the Battle Scars singer dialled in to KIIS FM's Kyle & Jackie O Show to celebrate the news and congratulate the radio host.

While Kyle was in the hospital with his fiancée Tegan Kynaston, Guy spoke to co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson about how he received the news.

The 40-year-old said he was on his morning walk when a stranger he'd 'never met' pulled over in a car and said: 'I just had to tell you, Kyle's had his baby! He's had his baby!'

'He was so excited,' Guy recalled. 'And equally we are excited.'

'I sent Kyle a little message and I'm so, so happy for you guys as well,' he said to the team back at the radio station.

'I know you're all celebrating there. What a day!'

Guy's debut song, Angels Brought Me Here, was featured on Kyle's 'birthing playlist' for his newborn son.

While the KIIS FM team weren't able to broadcast from the birthing suite, they did contribute a personal touch to Tegan's and Kyle's big day by creating the baby-themed playlist for them to play while she gave birth.

'I'm hoping that your song was actually playing,' Jackie said to Guy.

Guy added that he couldn't wait to find out all the details.

'The more the better!' he said. 'Please say a massive congrats from me. We love you guys, thank you so much.'

TV presenter Beau Ryan also called into the show, jokingly telling Jackie: 'I never thought I'd see this day while I was alive.'

Also sending his best wishes was Kyle's idol, veteran radio host John Laws, who mused: 'Does the child look like me?'

Elsewhere, baby Otto's uncle Chris Sandilands called into the show to share his joy.

Chris said he was thrilled by the arrival, revealing that he was unable to attend the birth due to hospital Covid restrictions but was looking forward to meeting his nephew once they return home.

'This kid is born into luxury. What a lucky little bugger!' he joked.

Kyle Sandilands, 51, officially became a father on Wednesday morning after he was forced to abruptly leave his breakfast radio show at around 7am due to Tegan, 36, going into labour.

'Guys, I am broadcasting from home for a reason, and that reason seems to have raised its head now,' he said, before turning to his pregnant partner and asking her, 'It's all happening?'
