Carrie Ann Inaba paid tribute to the late Anne Heche, who competed on season 29 of Dancing With The Stars for four weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hours after the 53-year-old actress was declared 'brain dead' after a fiery car crash last week, the 54-year-old Dancing With The Stars judge reflected on the mother-of-two's stint on the ABC's long-running dance competition.

'She was a unique person,' the TV personality told People. 'So open and vulnerable, yet also so direct and courageous. I believe she was someone who was often misunderstood … and like all humans, she made mistakes.'

The host continues: 'But when I watched her perform up close, all I could feel from her was joy and an open heart, She loved to perform and she wasn't afraid to fail.'

Inaba went on to describe Heche as 'a rare and precious person' that 'left us and her family so soon.'

'I'm sad,' the choreographer concluded. 'I wish her family healing and love … and may Anne Heche rest and play in peace now … She will always be a part of the DWTS family,'
