Lewis Capaldi has said he will quit the music business if his latest tracks flop as he prepares to return to the limelight after a three year break.

The singer, 33, who recently revealed he has Tourettes syndrome, said he could see himself withdrawing from public life all together, similar to former Queen bassist John Deacon.

Ahead of the release of his new single Forget Me he told The Sun: 'If it flops you can pursue a career as a comedian? No, I won't. If it flops I will retire from public life.

Before adding: 'I'll be like John Deacon in Queen. No one's heard of that c*** in ages'. 

John Deacon wrote a number of Queen's smash hits including Another One Bites the Dust before leaving the band following Freddie Mercury's death in 1991.

The musician, who is worth an estimated £105million, now chooses to remain out of the limelight, however continues to remain a quarter shareholder in Queen Productions Limited.

Admitting his hope for success Lewis told the publication: 'There's me, a man who, let's not beat around the bush, has accumulated a wealth already, and now I'm asking you to give me more of that, please, during a cost-of-living crisis'.

'I'm aware of how f***ing mental that is. But unfortunately it's the game we play.'

It comes after the singer sported a pair of Y-Fronts and announced he's an ambassador for Tourette's syndrome on Wednesday, after he revealed his own diagnosis. 

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition characterised by a combination of involuntary noises and movements called tics.

The hitmaker took to his Instagram to poke fun at the oversized pants and joked that he will 'never have sex again' whilst wearing the undergarments. 

 Speaking in the light-hearted clip, Lewis told other's who suffer from the neurological condition to 'gaze upon their leader.'

Showing of the Y-Fronts, that were sent by his record label, he laughed: 'I told everyone I had Tourettes and people on Twitter were being really nice.
