Sam Mendes has said he thinks it would be 'wonderful' for a women to direct the next James Bond movie.

The Oscar winning film director, 57, who was behind Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015), revealed his thoughts on what he thinks should happen in the franchise's future.

Sam said he believes that the director should 'evolve' with the films like the leading actor does, with Daniel Craig, 54, who starred as 007 in five movies from 2006 until 2021, leaving the iconic films after No Time To Die.

He told Deadline: 'I think that the actor playing Bond is going to evolve, the director has to evolve. I think it would be wonderful to see a woman directing Bond, I think it would be wonderful.'

The latest Bond instalment No Time To Die was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, and director Sam said he doesn't believe the franchise will ask him again, as he had already created two films.

He continued: 'I don't think they'd want me anymore. It was an incredible thing to do at that moment in my life; I couldn't have asked for a better thing - I saw the world in a different way.'
