Harry Redknapp has revealed that he feared for his wife Sandra's life after a battle with Covid-19 left her struggling to breathe.

The former football manager's devoted wife of 55 years was struck down by the virus in January this year, after having previously snapped selfies with fans at a restaurant on New Year's Eve.

And in a new interview, Harry, 75, admitted that he started to 'think about sinister things' amid his ailing wife's health battle which saw her vocal cords 'paralysed' after Covid 'attacked' pre-existing problems with her neck.

Things got so bad for Sandra that that Harry worried that she'd choke to death due to difficulty swallowing, with the mother-of-two forced to write notes to communicate.

Speaking to The Mirror about the ordeal, he said: 'The symptoms weren’t good, if I’m truthful. You start to think about all kinds of sinister things. It’s been a real worry.

'Sandra has suffered. Her voice had packed up and she was struggling for breath. Even swallowing food became difficult. She could choke on food easily if we weren’t careful.'
