Australian TV doyenne Kerri-Anne Kennerley has taken aim at Meghan Markle for repeatedly criticising the Firm in interviews since stepping down as a frontline royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have rocked the Royal Family with a series of 'truth bombs' that portray Prince Harry's closest relatives as uncaring and even racist at a time when Meghan was pregnant and struggling to cope with press scrutiny.

They saved their most stinging attacks on the Windsors for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired in March last year - a decision Kennerley found 'very sad'.

'I find it very, very sad that [Meghan] has to publicly wash dirty linen in public,' she told Daily Mail Australia. 'I just... I would never do that to my family.'

Kennerley continued: 'Meghan seems to think that the world should know all the ins and outs and deeply personal things that are said within family walls.

'Whether you're a royal or not, they're deeply personal things in a family.'

Kennerley suggested the interviews were 'clearly' being 'done for money'. (Meghan and Harry have said they were not paid for their interview with Winfrey.)

'You shouldn't go blabbing,' added the Logie Hall of Famer, 'unless it's in your own four walls.

'I don't care how much money she's making. It would be unfortunate in any family.'

Kennerley also noted that the royals were 'brought up differently' to ordinary people, and so perhaps Meghan should try to be more understanding and pull her punches.

'It's very hard to judge until you've been in their shoes for some time,' she explained.

'They were brought up differently and that's just the way it is. You can't rewrite history.

'I'm very firm on not rewriting history. You can observe and learn, appreciate and decide that can never happen again. Or say, "Yes, we have to repeat that."'
