As confirmed by MailOnline, former The Only Way Is Essex star James Argent has agreed take part after losing 14 stone following his lifesaving gastric surgery.

A source exclusively revealed that James is 'determined' to reach the end of the course and wants to prove he's capable of tackling the most gruelling show on TV, having previously spoken about his battle with drug addiction, depression, and binge eating.

A show insider told MailOnline: 'James has been through so much in his life but now after months of recovery and working on himself – he's ready for a challenge of this magnitude.

'It's not just the physical aspect of the show for James, he'll be tested mentally and given the chance to speak about everything he's experienced in recent years.

Of Teddy and Montana's involvement, a source told The Sun: 'They've done the villa but this is going to be absolutely nothing like that. The two shows are at the opposite ends of the reality TV spectrum.

'Teddy and Montana are both well aware how challenging the show is and are determined to stick it out. Don't expect either of these two to give it anything less than all they've got.'

Gareth Gates will also be hoping to strike a chord with fearsome instructor Reyes, more than twenty years after finding fame as a finalist on the Simon Cowell produced talent show Pop Idol.

'Gareth loves the show and is always looking for new challenges so when the opportunity came up he couldn't turn it down,' a source confirmed. 'He knows it won't be easy but he's looking forward to getting stuck in and can't wait to start.'
