A new trailer for Sunday's season finale of The Block hints at heartbreak for some of the contestants as they face the possibility their homes may not sell at auction.

While sales have been all but guaranteed in previous seasons of the Channel Nine renovation show, rising interest rates and falling house prices combined with a move to rural Victoria have resulted in uncertainty for the five teams.

A promo released on Monday shows Ryan and Rachel Carr from House 2 looking sombre as they discuss the prospect of leaving the show empty-handed.

'These houses might not sell, so the whole unknown is actually quite scary,' says Ryan, as his wife gazes blankly into the distance.

The pressure also gets the better of Sarah-Jane, who looks shattered as she buries her face in her hands while standing in the middle of an unfinished room.

Meanwhile, a suited-and-booted Scott Cam reassures the teams: 'Everybody wants you to make money.'

The trailer then cuts to a series of auctioneers saying, 'Going, going, gone.'

At the end of the promo, Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra from House 3 reflect on their troubled journey to auction day.

'Our house is the biggest house on the block,' says Sharon, as she and her husband stand on their deck overlooking the Macedon Ranges.

Tradie couple Dylan and Jenny from House 4 end the trailer on a confident note by saying they can 'do anything'.
