Matt Hancock's girlfriend Gina Coladangelo said watching the politician on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! had been 'quite the experience' as the campmates received letters from their loved ones in Sunday's episode.

The businesswoman, 45, landed in Australia earlier this week and has been spending time at the five-star JW Marriott hotel in Surfers Paradise, on Australia’s Gold Coast in anticipation of the former Health Secretary's departure from the show.

And Matt heard from Gina for the first time this weekend since entering the camp earlier this month, with his partner telling him in her note: 'Dear Matt, wow watching you in the jungle has been quite the experience.'

Referring to his participation in six consecutive Bushtucker Trials, she continued: 'We are particularly impressed that you conquered your fear of snakes. We are less sure about the dancing.

'Although we saw that you almost got the electric slide thanks to Scarlette. Gina xxxxx.'

West Suffolk MP Matt confessed to falling in love with her when quizzed by campmates over breaching pandemic social distancing rules when he and Gina were caught kissing in his ministerial office last year.

'In this box are 10 blocks, each representing a letter for one celebrity. You should now decide which celebrity you wish to play for. Once decided you will then take on the challenge in three teams.'

She added: 'Select carefully as the challenge will get progressively harder. Good luck, as your letters are hanging in the balance.'

Comedian Seann Walsh said in the Bush Telegraph: 'You could see how much it meant to everyone and I don’t want to be the person that lets someone else down.'

It was decided Sue, Boy George and Chris would play first.

Arriving at the challenge area, Chris read out a laminate of instructions: 'The aim of the game is for all three teams to balance their blocks on the beam within 60 minutes.

'The celebrities whose blocks are balanced at the end of that time will win a letter from home. As the first team you only need to balance your three blocks.

'However, even if you’ve placed your block, it is still hanging in the balance because the other celebrities might knock it off when they are placing theirs.'

The second team - comedian Babatúndé Aleshe, rugby player Mike Tindall, politician Matt and funnyman Seann - arrived and there were 46 minutes left on the clock.

Matt did several runs of the beam and managed to place one block and rearrange others. They stopped with two blocks on the beam.

Retired footballer Jill Scott, Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and Scarlette arrived with 37 minutes left to complete the challenge. They completed it in 14 minutes and celebrated by all jumping over the beam.

Scarlette said: 'We got all of them in 14 minutes, we nailed it!'

Babatúndé was tasked with reading Scarlette’s letter from her mother: “G’day Scarlette, I am so proud of you doing your trial, while encouraging your jungle buddies, especially Baba. Real teamwork.

Radio DJ Chris Moyles read singer Boy George’s letter from his sister: “George, each night we watch with such anticipation to see how your journey is unfolding, it's on a little late for mum so she watches on catch up in the mornings.

'We found it hilarious when you told all the camp about your weekly grooming routine and exposing Hamilton.

'We are all very much behind you, whatever the outcome, you are our George of the Jungle. All our love, Shiv, mum and all the family, God bless.'

Owen read Jill’s letter from her fiancée Shelly Unitt: 'Hi Jill it’s Shelly, I love you and miss you so much. There isn’t a minute that goes by where you’re not on my mind.

'I love you so much and now the rest of the world does too. This is because you’re such a great person with your positive, kind and encouraging self.

'I'll have a flat white waiting for you, love your biggest fans, Shelly, Evie and Hattie.'

Matt read Seann’s letter from his pregnant girlfriend Grace Adderley: “Hello bebe, I miss you a silly amount, but watching you makes me feel so much better.

'Considering you once fell against the kitchen wall clutching your heart because Mildred brought in a wet leaf that you thought was a mouse, I was so impressed you did actually sort of put your hand in a box of rats, even if your hand was guided by Matt.

Family man: Scarlette read Owen’s letter: 'Our dearest Owen, we can’t help but think back to us all watching I’m A Celeb together, so many years ago'

'I know everyone says that but you have faced your biggest fears and given us so many laughs at the same time.

'In other news, I thought you might like to know I put the house on the market…See you at the end of the bridge whenever that may be. Keep smiling, keep laughing and have so much fun. Me, Chewie and Leia.'
