Channel 10 has bumped The Challenge to its least-viewed multichannel 10 Shake as the dud reality series continues its ratings decline.

The network confirmed on Thursday that The Challenge will air the rest of its season exclusively on 10 Shake starting next week, with double episodes screening at 8:30pm and 9:30pm.

It's the latest nail in the coffin for The Challenge, which is hosted by non-binary presenter Brihony Dawson.

The Challenge brought in just 257,000 metro viewers when it premiered on November 14 in the prime time slot of 7.30pm.

Ratings plummeted to a mere 136,000 fans in the major centres during its second episode, and has continued to shed viewers ever since.

In response to the waning interest, Channel 10 announced last week that The Challenge would bump the program to a later time slot of 8.30pm starting on Monday.

It also confirmed The Challenge would start airing double episodes, a tactic networks use to speed up the time a failing show is on air.

Ratings continued to plummet on Monday, with the double episodes rating just 96,000 and 72,000 metro viewers respectively

Based on a US format, The Challenge sees celebrities compete with athletes in a series of elimination games.
