Stephanie Beacham revealed she could 'breathe a sigh of relief' reviving her Martha Fraser character on Coronation Street as it's one of her favourite roles from her 60 year career. 

The actress, 75, who found fame playing glamorous Sable Colby opposite Joan Collins in 1980s US soap, Dynasty, said it is 'exciting' to take to the cobbles as she doesn't have to worry about 'what I look like'.

Stephanie first took on the Corrie role in 2009 before making a brief return to the role last month.

The veteran star admitted that she can finally use her professional training from RADA as she plays Alzheimer's sufferer Martha.

She told The Mirror: 'Taking on a part where it doesn't matter what I look like is a very exciting thing. It didn't matter how I was lit or what angle I was shot from. It makes me breathe a sigh of relief and think, "At last!"
