Australian TV's game of musical chairs took another twist this week after a major 60 Minutes reporter announced he's jumping ship.

Liam Bartlett, a former Channel Nine reporter, has reportedly jumped ship to rival network Seven, just months after resigning from 60 Minutes.

According to The Australian on Monday, Bartlett, 61, is 'all but certain' to join the ranks at Seven in 2023, where he will likely begin hosting 60 Minutes' biggest competitor, 7News Spotlight.

As it happens, 7News Spotlight's current executive producer Mark Llewellyn previously worked alongside Bartlett as 60 Minutes' head of news and current affairs.

In October, Bartlett announced he'd quit his role on 60 Minutes as well as his job hosting Nine-owned Perth radio station 6PR, but gave no indication as to his next move.

In a statement at the time, Bartlett praised his former colleagues at Nine, saying 'It's been a real privilege and an honour to be allowed to present the morning program in my home state and be part of the wonderful 6PR team.'
