Michelle Pfeiffer talked about how she came to play Catwoman in 1992's hit film Batman Returns on Wednesday's edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

The 64-year-old Scarface star shared that she only won the role when Annette Bening dropped out when she became pregnant with Warren Beatty's baby. Warren and Annette welcomed their first child Stephen in 1992, the same year they wed.

'Someone was cast before me, Annette Bening who is wonderful,' she added. 'And then she got pregnant. Awesome. And then I got the part.'

Pfeiffer discussed a number of topics in the interview, beginning with her nomination for Best Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie Made For Television at the Critics Choice Awards.

She was nominated for her turn as Betty Ford in the Showtime series First Lady, and she is pitted against Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Amber Midthunder (Prey), Julia Roberts (Gaslit) and Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout).

She referred to her fellow nominees as an 'illustrious group of actresses.'

Fallon then told her he'd read that she generally tries to get out of or fired from acting jobs which the Grease 2 actress admitted.

She admitted to feeling 'performance anxiety,' but also said that she'd heard a person should quit acting if that nervous feeling ever goes away.

While Pfeiffer confirmed she felt that way while filming Scarface, she was quick to deny feeling anxious while shooting Batman Returns because she was 'obsessed with Catwoman' since she was young.
