Geoffrey Edelsten's widow, former escort turned rapper Gabi Grecko, has made a legal bid for what remains of the late businessman's ragged estate.

Edelsten died a virtual pauper in June last year, leaving behind an estate valued at just over $1million, despite the disgraced businessman's desperate attempts to portray an image of extreme wealth in his final years.

In his will, Edelsten gave his son Matthew Beard $50,000, leaving nothing to his second wife, American socialite Brynne Gordon, and third wife, former escort Grecko.

As reported by the Herald Sun, Grecko's lawyers filed a claim contesting the will in the Victorian Supreme Court in December, just months after Beard and Gordon lodged their own respective papers.

For the last three years of Edelsten's life, the couple - who were separated but, according to Grecko, not legally divorced - lived in different countries, with Edelsten based in Australia while Grecko resided in New York City.

US-based Grecko, real name Gabriella Rose Curtis, was estranged from Edelsten yet claims she was still technically married to him when he died.

Grecko referred to herself as a widow on social media following Edelsten's death, writing: 'For people who have asked. No, me and Geoffrey were still married when he passed away, no divorce, widowed.'

She is also asking the court to extend the application period for contesting the will, as her claim comes after the maximum six months have elapsed since it was probated.

Grecko's decision to contest her ex-husband's will comes as a surprise, as in July 2021 she told A Current Affair she wouldn't be making a claim because Edelsten was broke
