Selma Blair did not feel very well as a child.

In the new issue of SELF Magazine she shared that she suffered from such bad headaches in middle school that she drank heavy amounts of alcohol to deal with the constant pain.

And the 50-year-old star - who has MS - shared it was a form of 'self-medication.' She added, 'It helped. It took away pain like no other until the next day,' she said.

The actress has been known for her roles in films like Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, but in the last few years has become a face for disability advocacy in Hollywood.

In 2018, Selma was diagnosed with MS and finally had an answer to her ongoing ailments, which doctors had long thought were possible depression, malnourishment, or that she was faking it. 

'I was overwhelmed by a sense of relief, like the way you feel when an ocean wave breaks right at the shore before taking you under,' she said.

She is now in remission, meaning that the disease is no longer progressing, and she has 'stopped losing abilities,' but she still has to deal with the complications.  

'I’m so much better, but it haunts my physical cells. It’s there. Some people wake up two years later and they’re like, "I’m healed! Colors are brighter!" But I never had that moment. I just stopped having regression.'

The beauty also talked about how she has become a proactive figure advocating for inclusion and accessibility in the entertainment industry and how that became even more prominent after her stint on Dancing with the Stars in 2022. 

When she was initially approached by her friend and long-time DWTS coach Sasha Farber about being his partner on the show, she laughed it off, but after he wrote her a heartfelt note and she talked to her team to get them on board, she went for it.

She remembered telling them: 'I think I actually need this. I think it’s important for people with chronic illness or disabilities to
