Davina McCall has revealed using heroin felt like 'coming home' as she recalled abusing drugs on Wednesday.

The TV presenter, 54, discussed her childhood trauma, substance abuse and inspiring recovery story on Rockwater's In Conversation With podcast, while explaining how she was abandoned by her mother at just age three.

Davina's interview came as she also showed off her impressive physique in a skintight crop top and matching leggings as she took to Instagram to share a clip of her latest workout.

Having tried heroin for the first time at 15-years-old, Davina reflected on the sense of false comfort the substance gave her, revealing that using was 'like coming home.'

'When you are on it nothing else matters so you don't care about meeting someone on time or picking up your kids from school, luckily I didn't have any.'

After pushing her loved ones away and losing everything to prioritise her drug use, she said: 'Heroin became my best friend. It's like the biggest, warmest, softest cuddle.'

After ten years of substance abuse, Davina got help following an intervention from a friend.

She began attending ongoing NA meetings and therapy sessions, later achieving sobriety.

Davina graciously credits Pippy: 'They told me to get help because I was falling asleep at dinner, they locked me in the car and told me to get help. It's the reason why I'm still alive.'
