According to TV Blackbox, the Today show were crowned the leaders of Monday's ratings with a total audience of 193,000.

Meanwhile, Sunrise weren't too far behind, scraping in at 192,000.

ABC Breakfast copped 155,000, with 102,000 for ABC and 53,000 for ABC News.

The slight overtake in the ratings race could be due to Nine's boost from their coverage of the Australian Open that is currently playing out in Melbourne.

Another possibility could be from the aftermath of Today host Karl Stefanovic's Noosa melee with Michael Clarke, with Stefanovic yet to make an official statement on the matter.

The story has been lapped up by Channel Seven, almost all Australian news websites and even a handful of international outlets, including the New York Post.
