BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent and Nina Warhurst held back tears as they addressed the death of their 'brilliant' co-star.

Bill Turnbull was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November 2017 but sadly passed away in September 2022, aged 66.

The presenters discussed what an incredible man Bill was, with an emotional Sally saying: 'What a man. What a great man, would have been his birthday today.'

Nina asked if she had good memories of Bill, with Sally responding: 'Yes, he's just brilliant to work with. Brilliant to know. 

'Very, very kind, very, very wise and as we saw in that piece there, really private, so for him to talk about his health was a really big deal, that's how important it was to him.'

Nina, who was filling in for Jon Kay, quipped: 'And a brilliant dad,' with Sally adding: 'We really miss him.'

Bill's daughter Flora appeared on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday morning and during a video segment discussed how she was training to run the London Marathon in his honour.
