The Last of Us Episode 3: Joel and Ellie continue their journey West trends now

Just two days after HBO renewed The Last of Us for a second season, the beloved video game adaptation continues its first season with the third episode.

The new episode - entitled Long Long Time - introduces two new characters, Bill, played by Nick Offerman, and Frank, played by Murray Bartlett.

The episode also continues the journey West by Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), following a touching sacrifice in last week's episode.

The episode begins with Joel reaching his hand into a stream and stacking a number of rocks on top of each other, with a title card revealing he's 10 miles west of Boston.

He walks back to the campsite with Ellie leaning up against a tree, asking him if he wants his jacket back but he says no.

He tosses Ellie some food as she says she's never been in the woods before and there were 'more bugs than I thought.'

'I've been thinking about what happened. You needed a truck battery and you made a choice so don't blame me for something that's not my fault,' Ellie says, seemingly referring to the death of Tess (Anna Torv).

He tells her it's a five-hour hike and Ellie says, 'We can manage that' as they take off through the woods. 

Ellie asks if she can get a gun but he cuts her off and says no immediately, as they head into a building where he stashed some supplies.

Ellie gets very excited to see an old Mortal Kombat II arcade machine, as she starts professing her love for the game and its characters.

Ellie starts to explore despite Joel saying the place has already been picked over pretty well. 

She opens a metal door in the floor and drops down into the space with her flashlight, grabbing a trash can she get use to get out.

She starts looking around when she hears a snarl... and sees someone who has turned, trapped underneath a pile of bricks but somehow still alive.
