Olivia-Newton John's grieving husband John Easterling has discussed the stars final days and revealed the singer was 'free of pain'.

The beloved Grease star died August 8 2022, aged 73, following a 30-year battle with breast cancer.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph in Australia, American businessman John, 70 - who wed Olivia in 2008 - said that despite the difficulties of her illness she spent the end of her life 'in peace'.

'She was very clear and very alive and very conscious and not in pain. So there was a quality of life there at that time that I think is so critical.'

Olivia had breast cancer three times and was first diagnosed in 1992, before it returned in 2013 and again in 2017, eventually spreading to her spine.

'All the accolades... she would kind of brush that off'

Adding: 'She was just busy focusing on living her life being a joyful spirit.'

Last week John called his late wife 'the most courageous and compassionate woman' he had ever met during an emotional tribute at the 20th anniversary G'Day USA Arts Gala in Los Angeles, according to The Mirror.

The event, which was also attended by Newton-John's daughter Chloe Lattanzi, included a musical tribute featuring a medley of the Grease and Xanadu star's biggest hits, performed by Aussie musician Delta Goodrem, according to Variety.

It was during that tribute that John opened up and shared about the love story he and Olivia shared in their lifetimes.

'Olivia and I unexpectedly, madly, deeply, forever fell in love in the Amazon rainforest,' he revealed to the riveted crowd.
