Australian influencer Cartia Mallan has spent years growing out her hair but ruined her growth after using permanent hair extensions for just a few months.
The TikTok user shared her woes to the platform on Thursday with several videos documenting the process of losing all her hair as she had to cut it into a bob.
She said she had a 'freak out' when she removed her extensions after just a few months to discover most of her hair had been ripped out and became 'ratty'.

'I had been growing it for years and years and years and it was getting really healthy and it was in such a good place,' she said in her video.
'And then I was like I want my hair to be longer, I just want to switch it up. So I was like, "You know what, I'm just going to get hair extensions for like a month or two."
