Love Island 2023: Everything you missed in episode 22 trends now

An ongoing love triangle, a declaration of love and tension brewing among the girls - the drama never stopped during Monday night's episode of Love Island.

Things got off to a bad start as Ron Hall brushed off a chat with Lana Jenkins after she chose Casey O'Gorman during the recoupling and opted to speak with Casey first.

Later, viewers were convinced Lana was 'using' Casey to get back at Ron after his head was previously turned by Sami Elishi.

Elsewhere, Will made a dramatic declaration of love for Jessie Wynter as their romance continued to reach new heights and Olivia Hawkins became convinced that Samie had a problem with her. 

As fans look ahead to how the love triangle between Lana, Ron and Casey will play out, here's everything you need to know about episode 22. 

RON IS BRANDED 'MANIPULATIVE' FOR PULLING CASEY FOR A CHAT

Love Island viewers slammed Ron after he went for a 'manipulative' chat with Casey.

In the aftermath of Lana's choice - Ron refused to chat to Lana, and instead made his way to Casey.

In what viewers dubbed 'reverse psychology', Ron then went on to warn Casey 'he had a good thing' and to treat Lana well.

But taking to Twitter as the episode aired, viewers labelled Ron's behaviour as 'manipulative' and questioned why he was 'only being nice now'.

One fan wrote: 'Ron is using reverse psychology and it’s giving MASSIVE red flags'.

Another said: 'Why is ron talking to Casey like he's Lana's dad'.

'Red flag that Ron's talking to Casey before he chats to Lana... You're not her dad lol', another agreed. 

'What is this guy on?' a fan questioned.

Another viewer described the conversation as a 'hand over talk' and also agreed it was 'manipulative'. 

Despite snubbing Lana, Ron insisted the 'book is closed' with his former love interest Lana.

Now back in a friendship couple with Tanyel Revan, the financial adviser, 25, headed off into the garden to discuss how he's feeling during Monday's episode.

Ron said: 'That book's closed, I'm going to let them be happy. When you speak to her just say it's fine, I don't need to talk to her.

'I don't want to talk to her tonight, I will deal with it in my own way.'

Elsewhere, Lana caught up with Ellie Spence, Jessie and Olivia. She asked: 'Did I shock you?'

Olivia replied: 'I'm shocked, you left me on edge. I just want to say I'm so proud of you and whatever makes you happy, makes me over the moon.'

Lana continued: 'I just think why shouldn't I give Casey a chance, he's not done anything wrong. I'm not closing any doors right now, all I'm doing is giving Casey more time. People's actions after things like this say a lot.'

Ron then pulled Casey for a chat. But it remains to be seen what he will have to say about the latest fire pit.

At another point, Ron pulled Lana for a chat after sleeping on his thoughts.

While Lana confessed: 'I don't like upsetting you,' Ron replied: 'I know you don't.'

Lana said: 'I was thinking can I forgive because after I've had so many days upset about something.'

LANA IS ACCUSED OF USING CASEY TO GET BACK AT RON

It appeared Lana was regretting her choice as she admitted to her fellow islanders that as she slept in bed with Casey she 'wanted to be in bed with Ron'.

Lana and Ron spoke about her decision by the pool, with the Essex lad admitting he thinks she 'f****d up' by not picking him.

Lana said: 'Picking Casey wasn't a deep thing it was more of, well we have a couple more days to get to know each other. 

'I was also thinking, can I not forgive because I never held anything against you. After I've had so many days upset about something, I don't want to form a couple with you straight away and it all be OK.'

Ron replied: 'I struggle to understand the reasons there. I feel like him being here four days.'

Lana then said: 'What I'm saying is, did you deserve me to couple up with you?'

Ron said: 'I don't deserve that straight away but I feel like that recoupling was our chance to get thiings back and now it's Casey's chance to grow stronger and me to fade away. I'm not gonna lie, it did hurt.'

He added: 'He's a good lad but for me, I know I'm better. I know me and you would be better.'

Lana then insisted this didn't mean she was closed off to Ron, saying: 'I'm not married off. Maybe I should have deeped it a bit more.'

Ron said: 'For me, I don't regret getting to know people. I still want you. I do think you f****d up, obviously I'm biased but I do.'

Viewers were left sceptical that Lana has feelings for Casey at all, with one writing: 'Lana is still too concered about Ron for my liking'.

Another said: 'Lana does not want Casey! Couldn't be more obvious... good guys come last, most times. She'll go back to Ron.'

A third wrote: 'How does Lana have buyer's remorse already, get a grip!' while a fourth added: 'Why did Lana choose Casey if she was just gonna sulk over Ron?'

Another said: 'Casey is the real victim of this situation because we all know Lana didn't actually pick him, she just didn't pick Ron in an attempt to prove a point.' 

TENSIONS SIMMER BETWEEN OLIVIA AND SAMIE

Things got heated as tensions rose between Olivia and Samie.

As most of the islanders embraced the 'Ladiator' challenge, Olivia was left less than impressed after an awkward spillage.

Each boy took it in turns to deliver a bold speech, shortly followed by them flexing their muscles for the girls. 

The boys then had to choose a girl to carry through the remainder of the course on a chariot. 

Tom Clare, now coupled up with Samie, unsurprisingly chose her for the challenge.

But whilst on the chariot, Samie pushed over a pillar holding liquid towards Olivia.

As the splash came over, Olivia jumped back in shock.

Speaking to the Beach hut after the challenge Olivia recalled the incident,  admitting 'I think she has an issue with me'.

Viewers were not impressed with Olivia's 'petty' reaction to the challenge mishap, labelling her a 'cry baby'.

One viewer said: 'Can we all vote Olivia off please? She's like one of those people that cry for no reason thinking people are bullying her, everyday victim playing'.

Another acknowledged: 'The more I watch Olivia the more it makes sense why she's never been in a relationship at 27'.

'Olivia is a cry baby and they need to get her off the show', another said. 

Meanwhile, other fans praised Samie for the move.

One fan said: 'I've officially adopted Sammie. Like her pushing the pillar towards Olivia was so real of her'. 

Most islanders however were enthusiastic about the challenge, after the Villa received a text saying: 'Boys, all is fair in love and war so prepare to battle it out in the arena of love in today’s challenge, Ladiators #GoHardOrGoRome'.

Will then said: 'I’m turning this battle sexy, watch me. I actually back myself in this challenge so you boys better watch out.'

As the girls sported gold swimwear, the boys dressed in full gladiator attire complete with armour and gold briefs.

FANS BRAND LANA'S KISS WITH CASEY 'AWKWARD'

Fans were quick to compare Lana's kiss with Casey to her smooch with Ron on Monday's show, with many concluding it meant that she's definitely not interested in Casey. 

Ron was determined to win her back and he made his move as the islanders took part in the Ladiators challenge.

Lana appeared to enjoy a passionate embrace with her Ron, in comparison fans observed she looked uncomfortable locking lips with newcomer Casey, with fans deucing: 'She does not like that man!'

Taking to Twitter as the scenes unfolded, fans shared their thoughts on the two kisses, with many believing it's obvious that Lana is not into Casey. 

One viewer penned: 'I don’t think Lana really likes Casey. Even that kiss looked awkward.'

'Lana couldn’t even kiss Casey without squirming' commented another.

'Casey vs Ron’s kiss says it all' concluded a third watcher.

'Nahhhhh Casey … how can you see Lana swallow Ron’s soul like that and she pecked you like a chicken …and you think you had a good kiss' observed a fourth.

'That kiss between Casey and Lana was so awks. She does not like that man' said a fifth.

'Poor poor Casey is delusion, Lana can't even stand to kiss the lad' shared an additional tweeter.

With another adding: 'Lana was way more into the kiss with Ron than Casey. Can she just go back to him so this storyline can end and we can move on.'
