Brittany Furlan says that 'people mistook' a recent reference she made to her husband Tommy Lee's ex-wife Pamela Anderson, in a TikTok clip she posted and later deleted.

The Perkasie, Pennsylvania native, 36, told Page Six Monday that the public had a misconception about the message she was seeking to send in the clip she posted last week.

The post coincided with Anderson, 55, making a number of promotional appearances for her new memoir and Netflix documentary, both of which extensively cover her relationship with the Motley Crue drummer.

In the clip in question - which Furlan later deleted - the one-time Vine star was made up to look like Anderson with a '90s Pam filter' mimicking her bouffant locks and signature eye make-up with the caption, 'Pam if I died,' as she said, 'She passed away? Oh, hmmm, alright.'

She also captioned the snap: 'Pls guys I gotta make jokes, it's how I cope' before the camera panned to Tommy - but the clip was later deleted.

Furlan told Page Six that people on social media 'thought [she] was making a joke about [Anderson] dying instead of' herself, and that she was 'saddened' by the fallout over the misunderstood joke.

She said that 'what will be will be,' adding that 'humor, even dark humor,' was a way for her to cope with situations she finds herself uncomfortable in.

The controversy arose came after Furlan broke her silence after Pamela, 55, released her tell-all documentary which she believed would 'annoy' his current spouse, who she was wed to from 1995-1998.

She said on Instagram in a dignified video: 'I just wanted to come on here to let you know that I’m OK because I know people have been checking on me, which is really nice, and I’m good.

'Don’t worry, and don’t worry about all the people that are saying all the mean things that they’re saying. That’s totally, you know, I don’t live in that world. So, please don’t stress and thank you to all the people that have been so sweet.

Furlan continued, 'We are only here for a certain amount of time, so I don’t sweat the comments from people that don’t know me, or my relationship or anything like that.

'I love everyone that’s been really kind. I’m sending love to those that have been unkind because I think they probably need it and it is what it is. It’s life, I guess.

'I’m lucky to have a really loving husband who honestly laughs all the stuff off and could care less but don’t worry about anything, Thank you to everyone that’s been sticking up for me and stuff like that.'

'I leave my comments open if you feel like you wanna get it out and say something mean to me or try to tear me down, go ahead.

'Honestly I have done so much self work that, you know, I realize where it’s coming from. With that said, I’m sending so much love out there to everyone, the good and the bad, and don’t worry about anything and I’ll be back to my continued program as usual very soon. Love you guys.

She said: 'Just a text here and there, nothing too crazy, he's married and happy and she's good to him and I want to support that.'

She added: 'I hate to be annoying and go through that again and I'm sure she's annoyed, but respect their relationship and I'm glad he's happy and has someone in his life.

'They see each other all the time. This movie is like a love letter to their parents, they know they came from real love and they get to see the real story.

'The sex tape took its toll on the relationship, it took its toll on my career and people are still capitalizing off that.'

The star also slated acclaimed Hulu series Pam & Tommy, which starred Lily James and Sebastian Stan.

She said: 'I remember seeing this advert for Pam & Tommy and was like, what? No-one called me, I'm still alive, no-one asked me, it's nothing to do with me.

'I felt kinda run over by that one. I don't think they portrayed Tommy or I very accurately. I haven't seen it but I've heard from people that it's a very shallow representation of us. I wish they would've called.
